You're not a typical tourist unless you visit Meiji jingu when you're in Tokyo.
Even if you've been there more times than you care to count or remember. :)
Trees that I've always fondly refered to as the Broccoli trees. <3
Taking a stroll to yoyogi koen to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
You guys didn't think that I would miss enjoying some hanami did you?
Posing guy at baba. Second favorite place in Tokyo.
Another touristy thing you have to do if you visit Tokyo is to walk around in Asakusa.
As my second week there had almost passed I realised that we hadn't been there yet(this time) and promptly organized a trip there together with my fellow swedish girls and a japanese friend of the girl I was living with.
I knew it would be stupid to go there on a saturday but as time was running ahead of us it was the only free day we had so saturday it had to be.
It was also probably the hottest day so far during my stay there, which was good if you ask me. The april weather was piss poor this year. Typical april weather.
We gonna run run run to the cities of the future take what we can and bring it back home
so take me down to the cities of the future~
Ikebukuro has become like a second home to me, it's definitely my favorite area in Tokyo so far,
especially east ikebukuro which has basically everything you need in terms of stores and outdoor fun.
It's also thick with foreigneirs on good and bad but so far I can't see any downside with it. I'm one myself after all:P
Random shrine which I refused to go up to since I'm a coward and feels like I'm intruding on sacred grounds.
I also can't step inside graveyards for the same reason. XD
This guy was so funny.
Just as I snapped this photo of the street and the trees he popped out of nowhere(from behind the entrance walls -_-) and stared. XD
So this was a mishmash of my photos from April. I didn't feel like bombing my LJ with even more photos of memories which means something only to those who got to experience them. :P
But to sum it up all nicely my vacation consisted of a lot of walking, alcohol, food, more walking and more alcohol. Gin & Tonic mostly.
We found our favorite "water hole" just 10 minutes away from our apartment, a pub usually thick with foreigners because of their english menues and sport TVs.
It was a small place, but with awesome staff and funny regulars. By the end of my stay they probably counted us as regulars as well, or at least it felt that way, especially when my favorite barkeeper said "see you tomorrow" instead of their usual goodbyes.
I got to know most of the staff and their names and such, when they found out that I could speak a little bit japanese it was like a flood gate opened and they all asked lots of questions. The last night before I was going home they all one by one told me to have a safe trip home and come back soon again.
I really miss them actually. Wanna go back and see if they remember me. hahah they prolly won't but one might never know..^^
Anyway. I really. REALLY want to go back this year but since I nowadays get a fixed monthly wage instead of hourly, I have to earn my vacation days as everyone else and I won't get any new ones until next april (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOEWS D:).
There's a chance that I can get vacation days in advance but if I do, and I quit my job within five years I will have to pay back I get... UUUGH.
Since my employment is really unsafe, my contract is renewed every six months and the company can't guarantee that I will get renewed in the future, it's just too dangerous. I would have to save that money just in case.
Not that I'm not saving money as it is, but that's for being able to move to my own home some day in the future, not because I suddenly have a debt to repay.
-_-
So, most likely there won't be any vacation for me again until april next year.
I was planning to take one week off in july but we'll see how I'm going to deal with that. My boss is looking into it anyway. ^^
Anyway, life leads you onto unexpected paths sometimes, we'll see what the future holds for me.
