Best Friend Hanging Out Time (Not a Date)-RL with Kazuha and Heiji

Feb 03, 2009 21:05

Kazuha was pondering her current situation as she walked to Heiji's. She made a deal with Eris. She got her voice back...but she could never say anything to Heiji again. The thing was...she didn't believe she COULD avoid it. It was natural to talk to Heiji ( Read more... )

Heiji was the only one home for the time being. His father was working and his mother had gone out to get something to make for supper. But it was all right. He'd been along with Kazuha thousands of times since they were little. It's not like they would be doing anything.

He stared at himself in the mirror. Three bright new scars decorated his torso. Two more to match the first one in his stomach and a third in his left shoulder. They were very stark against his skin. Still new.

They shouldn't have scarred yet, if he'd healed naturally. They'd still be very raw and only together with the help of many gross stitches. But a goddess had healed him and now he was as good as new.

except for three shiny new scars.

Hearing the knock on the door, he hurriedly pulled on a shirt and moved to go downstairs. Speaking of which, eris had also cursed Kazuha, who lied to him about her condition. Probably to keep him from worrying. It still bothered him, but it's not like she could actively tell him.

He stopped in front of the door, hesitating. What could he do?

Shaking it off, he grinned brightly and opened the door.

Kazuha smiled brightly when he opened the door, holding up a hand in greeting. She did a quick once over.

He seemed all right. No obvious sign of pain. So the mystery healing worked?

He moved aside to let her in, greeting her brightly. "Ya get t' pick the first movie, okay?" He drawled. "I got water on t' make ya some tea, but I wasn't sure what kind of snacks t' make up. Didn't know if yer throat would be able to handle em."

Kazuha paused for a moment before tapping his arm very softly and making an eating motion. Soft snacks would be best for what her 'condition' was supposed to be. She smiled and headed for the living room to chose the first movie. At least he seemed to have bought the ruse.

Bought it. Yup. That's definitely what he did. He sighed softly as she left and returned to the kitchen, making up some snacks for the both of them and finishing the drinks.

Now, he couldn't juggle nearly as well as Kuroba, but he managed to get everything into the living room without spilling.

Movies were really the best thing right now, if she couldn't talk.

He watched her flip through the DVDs for a moment and didn't realize a sad expression sat on his face. Who would have thought he'd miss hearing her voice this much.

Kazuha looked through the DVDs and picked one up. It looks fairly new to the collection. She looked at the back. Mindless violence, cars, and machine guns.

...sounded fun. And they were apparently going to watch more movies, so some of the others she had her eye on could wait. So she stood up, holding up the Death Race DVD to get his opinion.

And then paused at the expression, opening her mth to ask what was wrong before she froze. Right...no talkie.

So instead she tilted her head, looking at him questioningly.

He shook his head, realizing that he shouldn't be moping like that, and shrugged. "Sure. I haven't watched it yet. Seems interestin'." The sad look was wiped away without an answer and he flopped down on the couch a little harder than necessary.

Kazuha frowned at that. That was...weird. She'd have to write him a note later to ask about it. For the moment, she put in the DVD and moved to sit down next to Heiji, smiling at him slightly, hoping the sadness wasn't a bit deal.

Heiji grinned and offered her the tea before turning on the movie.

The entire idea behind the plot made him a little ill; the thought that anyone's law system could get so bad to resort to this went against everything he ever believed in, but as a movie of its genre it wasn't bad.

Kazuha couldn't quite understand why a race that lets the most ruthless criminal gain his freedom was a good idea, but after turning off the logical, justice minded part of her brain, it was a pretty good action flick. And she even managed to keep from being too vocal at all the explosions and cool things.

That was, until the Chinese girl got hit by the drill, letting out a very creeped out and horrified squeak. No one should go out that way!

That part was just OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW kendo_taisho February 4 2009, 22:06:21 UTC
Heiji glanced down at her, a bit confused but a suspicion confirmed. If she were still cursed, she wouldn't have been able to make a sound at all, not even a hoarse squeak.

But if she weren't cursed anymore, why wasn't she talking to him?

He at least let it wait until the movie was over before plastering an 'I'm onto you' look all over his face.

Precisely why I chose it. I felt sorry for the girl. Horrifying way to go. aikido_2_dan February 4 2009, 22:13:07 UTC
It took a few moments before Kazuha realized what she had done, her eyes widening even as the carnage continued on screen. Did she really makes a noise? or did she just imagine it.

She glanced at Heiji. And if she had...did he hear it?

When the movie finished, Heiji stood up to get himself a new drink, not saying anything. When he came back, he tilted his head and offered her a soda.

"You're no longer cursed, are ya?" He asked.

Yay payback to sadistic lady~! aikido_2_dan February 4 2009, 22:36:40 UTC
She couldn't tell. Everytime she glanced at him during the movie, she couldn't tell if he heard or not. Maybe...maybe he didn't? After all, it wasn't that loud of a noise and there were a lot of explosions and screams and car noises. So maybe...

She reached for the soda when he offered it, her hand freezing part way as he spoke, her eyes widening in shock. He knew...he KNEW about the curse?! But...

Well, she hadn't locked that post. He probably looked. How could she have been stupid enough to think he wouldn't figure it out? But why hadn't he said anything?!

Heiji stood silently when she didn't answer; didn't even try to defend herself.

Then he fought to keep that sad, upset expression off his face. "Why won't ya talk t' me?"

Kazuha opened her mouth, wanting to explain, but of course she could see how that would end. She closed her mouth again, looking guilty and looked away.

Curse Eris. Curse Eris and whatever made her a sadistic bitch.
