Not that it's a New Year's Resolution, but...

I've started learning Japanese. I only started last week and just because my library is testing a language database to see if we want to buy this product for our patrons. (I'm all for it if we have the money. This is an awesome database!)

To test the effectiveness of the teaching method, I decided to try Japanese, a language that is new to me. I have been saying that the languages I want to know, I already know. So I had to pick something new. Hence the Japanese.

Since we have the free trial going on for a month, I'm going to stick with it as long as we have access. I think I've done a little every day since Thursday. It's so fun. I'm just loving this. So yay the language, and yay the learning method.

I'm only fluent in English, but it's fun to be listy- to say I know some other languages. They are (in order of attempt): Spanish, Russian, Finnish, German... and now Japanese.

I also did Hungarian before Finnish, but most of my learning with that is gone. Oddly, the Russian stuck, and I'd only been in class on that a total of 4 months. That's it. I'm surprised at times how well the Russian has stayed with me.

And finding this on Friday made me very happy at work: http://www.lolcatbible.com/
