I left last week for Vancouver Island without a notice or anything, because I forgot XD;. I've been hopping from one vacation to the next since Mexico. Not that I'm complaining or anything--in fact, as we were unpacking the van today from our trip, I was on the phone with Rhia planning to hop the next bus to downtown. XDD; Rhia and I haven't been able to talk in *weeks* because the second I came home from Whistler, she was leaving for Saskatchewan, and when she came back, I was on Vancouver Island for the week.
We walked the length of downtown Granville, which I hadn't done before because, well, it's Granville. It used to be the kind of street where you could get high just wandering around because of all the druggies that sit there smoking. But since they closed Granville to buses (it used to be the road that all the downtown buses went down, but it's closed for construction until 2009), it's become much cleaner and safer. It's the home of a bunch of $0.99-a-slice pizza places, which is why we were there in the first place, though we paid $1.18 for our pizza slices when there was a $0.93-a-slice place just down the street. XD;
And BC Transit was doing construction on the Skytrain in the middle of the day! We stood at the Granville platform for fifteen minutes (downtown Skytrains usually come every 1-2 minutes) with at least fifty other people before a crowded train pulled up (not the right line to get us home, but our line wasn't working) and we squeezed ourselves in. We had no elbow room at all, and I mentally groaned every time we came to a station that wasn't ours because more people who had been waiting for fifteen minutes--a huge crowd each time because the Skytrain is THE form of transit for, well, the entire city--tried to shove their way into the car, and there wasn't any room. At least we finally got back okay.
Oh, and I'm leaving for Vancouver Island again this Wednesday, but this time I get to bring Rhia! ^-^ I can't wait to show her my grandparents' place on the beach, and the town, and we can sleep in the beachhouse next to the ocean and... well, it should be really fun. ^^ Unfortunately, we have to leave the family house in Qualicum on Friday to get to Victoria (also on the island, the province capital) for my brother's football tournament. My parents have to stay in Victoria until Sunday, but I'm probably going back with Rhia on Friday so we can make Anime Evolution (local anime con) for Sa/Su/M. I might end up staying with them, if her parents let me, but I want to see if I can convince mine to let me spend the weekend at home alone, so nothing's for sure yet.
