I'm back from Outer Space from Whistler Mountain. Kind of.

After sitting internet-deprived in my hotel room at Whistler since Wednesday, two nights ago--our second-to-last night here--my brother came rushing into the room (when did he leave? I dunno) announcing that he was picking up a FREE, UNPROTECTED SIGNAL on his laptop from the lobby.

Let me explain something about the lobby of this particular hotel. It has paid internet access. $2(CAN) for 10 MINUTES. $10 doesn't even give you an *hour* of internet time.

...But of course, immediately after my brother made this astonishing discovery of free internet in the lobby, the entire building's wireless signal blacked out for over a day and I didn't get on until now. I got the hint that the internet was back on when a dozen people with laptops were fighting over couch space.

We really scored this year in Whistler--we're here at the exact same time as Crankworx, one of the biggest mountain bike festivals in the world! The entire mountain has gone bike-crazy. There are ramps and logs set up all through the village and the actual bike area is so packed it's hard to move. And they've got live bands playing on a stage next to a 20-foot inflatable can of Kokanee beer (the official sponsor). What's better than staying in a luxury hotel for FREE in the world's biggest ski resort watching guys launch themselves off of ramps more than three times my height? Not much. Except climbing the mountain of said ski resort, which mom and I did yesterday. The top of the mountain is very cold, in the negatives I think.

Still uploading photos from my Mexico trip so I can make a good summary...
