[art] Tablet art (July 2009 - February 2010)

In honor of mah Yugi's birthday, here's that tablet art post I've been promising. xD

W
What it says on the tin. xD This was the first pic I ever drew on the tablet. The pose was based on a scene from the last chapter of Koori no Mamono no Monogatari. I was inordinately proud, even considering that Yugi looks so frail and tiny. ^^;

This was the first colored pic I ever did on it. The wording inspired by a shirt a classmate of mine had in high school. It had a tree and birds and a sun and stuff, with arrows pointing to each saying "this is pointless" and a sad-looking fuzzy monster with the "everything is pointless when you're gone" heading. So sad but cute, and I vowed to someday do a Puzzleshippy picture related to it. Took me three years, but um...xD In my mind this is part of an AU, in which Yugi died of an illness, but you can imagine your own plot.

This was drawn as a gift for a Secret Santa gift-giving event that the FMA clubhouse organized. My gifteee liked both Harry Potter and FMA, and since Ed would naturally be horrified by such a thing, I ended up doodling this. Don't ask me who the teacher is who has stolen McGonagall's job. Or why they use black chalk. Or why Ed's hat is black, or why none of the other students aren't wearing hats. I don't know. |D

Obviously a Doma-inspired one here. x3 This one really didn't come out the way I had intended. Yami was supposed to be colored, so the whole dramatic blood splash in the middle wasn't supposed to be nearly as noticeable. But then I ran into problems and ended up saying screw it, and so Yami ended up transparent, and the background became more of a focal point than I'd wanted. So yes, I am aware it looks like he's been shot in the side. That was unintentional. T_T

Quote taken from The Triumph of Time by Algernon Charles Swinburne, specifically this part:
I am swift to follow you, keen to see;
But love lacks might to redeem or undo me;
As I have been, I know I shall surely be.

And for the most important of all!!

The gifty I drew for Gina. ^^ I honestly don't know why the lettering is so crummy. My tablet pen was working fine, then when I went back into SAI to do the writing and clean up the heart, it was suddenly all pixely. ;_; Also I can't explain why the box hasn't collapsed under Yugi's weight. It's a sturdy box, okay? xD
This one was inspired by a peice of artwork from Kyuubikun, specifically this picture. I stole the general idea and Puzzleshipped it up. xD HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN MY UKE!! <333333

...In case it wasn't obvious, yes, I have been drawing people from the side a lot lately. I really needed to work on it and figured now was the time, and I'm pretty pleased with my progress. Also I've been trying to emulate a little bit of Sugiura-sensei's style and draw profiles with better-defined chins/noses/lips, rather than just a kind of muzzle shape.
