This is the first time I have unconstrained time in three weeks and I’m bored. Weird how the world works like that, huh?
New job=Awesome in some respects, crappy in some respects. Here’s the breakdown:
Awesomenesses:
1. I’m learning a lot about computer programs like filemaker, excel and access. I’m also becoming quite familiar with crappy programmer jargon because the people who administer (EWW…their name is PeopleAdmin, get it people who administer, HAHAHA small pleasures) have a tendency to not do things that they say they are going to do.
2. I’ve learned a lot about compensation policy and whether people can be exempt and what kind of ERC code they should have and equally unexciting things to people who aren’t excited by policy.
3. I’ve also learned why contracts are the red headed stepchild of HR…and why everyone should want to work at a UC.
4. I have a cube…my own cube (I mean, Ill never be able to afford a house here, but at least I have a cube) and people keep giving me cool things to store in it. I have three fish art things, a cool aborigini painting and my fish Crystal Meth…because he seemed lonely now that I am never home.
Lamenesses:
1. My boss has never supervised before me and I don’t think she understands the parameters of her assignment. She told me that I need to be more “task oriented” yesterday, as if anyone who has known me for more than five minutes was unaware of the fact that I am completely random and tangential all the time. It wasn’t a question of me getting my work done, cause I get it down quickly and with skill…but in the process Ill stop to discuss whether, say, Wolfgang Wigo’s friends call him Wolfie…and whether Wigo is pronounced Weego or Wig-o. She can’t handle such non-task orientedness.
2. Her job is also her number one priority and she cares too much about it. My theory is that 99.99% of the time if you didn’t finish it on Friday, you can wait until Monday. This disrupts her mojo.
3. I haven’t gotten paid yet. May 1 will you never come?
4. Coming up with 5 non-jeans outfits a week is a bigger pain in the ass than you would think it is.
Non-related things:
I got to go to Disneyland with my friend Ryan last weekend. He took me on the Tower of Terror at California Adventures where I screamed my ass off and almost broke his hand because I squeezed it so hard. After I survived though, I wanted to go again.
The weather here can’t decide what it wants to do. On the one hand it is summer…on the other hand, every other day it is either raining or cold.
I started riding my bike to work again in an effort to ease my way back into shape. Caring is soo overrated.
This is all. Love.
