Tonight I watched Brokeback Mountain instead of sleeping. Montana is so pretty it hurts, one day I want to take a convertible and road trip across the plains states in the summer. Get lost in the sky. Lose the end of the road to a pin prick on the horizon. Mountains and cows and dinosaurs. Roadside marvels in aging towns. I bet Canada is the same. I'll avoid falling in love with a reticent cowboy though. No love as perfect as that was is worth such pain.
Tomorrow I'm going on an adventure of moderate proportions. Imma take a bus to Milwaukee, and then take the train back home. I've never properly been to Milwaukee, so this should be interesting. If anything I'll wander across someone else's campus for an hour and hang out in the train station. The last train station I hung out in was in Spain, I was knitting a sock and some old ladies thought that was amazing and took my picture. It was beautiful with a greenhouse garden and a Marks and Spencer food store. I am tempering my expectations for the Amtrak in Milwaukee.
Today I worked, like the last and the one before that and so on. Working everynight for the past seven days really puts me in a foul temper, right until the end of the night when it's just me (the last person who works in the Bakery section since 2 o'clock) and the prep foods team (two counter people and three kitchen folk) hanging out and waiting to go home. There are other people in the store, but only we are trapped, waiting behind our respective counters to see if any customers dart in at a quarter 'till close to test our resolve. They didn't tonight and it was good in the end. A nice way to end my tenure as a full-time bakery team member.
ps did I mention that I'm in love with Florence and the Machine? Because I am.
