Usually the first thing people do is join some communities, but, you've already done that, so, I'd say you're off to a good start. :)

If you were wondering about RPs (also called RPGs), they're kind of like an interactive fanfiction. RPG is short for Role Playing Game, but, people will shorten the name down even more to RP (Role Play). RPs have all kind of stories, and can be about all sorts of series. People that want to play have to pick a character that no one has chosen, and apply or audition for the part. If you're accepted, you make a character journal (that's what this is), and start writing. Since it's written like a fanfiction, the entries read like stories.They're fun to both play in and read, but, since playing involves a lot of writing, and you need to try out to get in, many people prefer to just read.
