this week i made another important life decision.
what's this? yodobashi camera again???
what could it be?
DENSHI JISHO!!!!!!!!!!!!! (japanese/english electronic dictionary)
i know it's blurry, but so pretty and purple~~ i think ever since akane told me she thought my 'aura' was purple, i've started realizing that i've been slowly getting into purple (purple sweater, purple keychain, purple towels etc...)
to tell the truth, i almost caved and got the new canon wordtank in pink... it's so cute! even if it's a tad heavy... what stopped me was the fact that i've been into purple these days, and i guess color was the #1 deciding factor? also... even though i can't put it into english like the wordtank, i can do lots of neat things like make it speak tagalog and italian!
my week was fine, first week of class over. we had to give like 5 minute self introduction classes in my friday kaiwa class (haven't decided if i'll drop it or not - i don't want to do the presentation). teacher says i need to work on my kousei... which i guess is something like format? she said i was sort of all over the place, which is true. i'm so bad at putting thoughts together when talking for a long time (in english too actually)...
failed my kanji test - it's really evident how much i need to practice kanji. i mean, i studied kanji... sort of... when i was at umd, but for the most part i'd ignore it. i'm not sure how i got through with writing hiragana all the time. i literally just stopped practicing after miura's class.... and i was bad at kanji then too. then, being in japan for over a year i pretty much only wrote stuff like my address. anyway, going from never writing kanji ever (seriously? i have trouble writing stuff like "tomodachi"... i probably can't write more than half of 1st year kanji!) to writing full sentences for a test (2kyu kanji) is really hard. we had a day to study 25 sentences (at least 50 kanji) and be able to write them. in theory not hard to study for, just takes time, and a day for me wasn't enough since i even had to practice kanji like... "taifuu." i'm pretty hopeless, right? hopefully my kakitorikun - a game for ds where you can practice writing 1st-6th grade kanji - will help me.
ganbaranakya~!
i only got to #12 before the test, but hopefully i can write a few kanji now. :-) 禁煙、検討、経験、危険、建策、金額 are some of the ones i was studying... and some of the sentences i had to write for my test were like 大病院が建設されました and 平均よりも上の成績 - short easy sentences, but just lots of kanji to have to practice per sentence.
lastly... i've been sick all week, hacking up a lung. everyone keeps asking me if i'm okay, and akane even bought me like some of those bottle vitamin thingies japan likes so much. i feel bad sharing space with tons of people but coughing all the time. it's gross. but actually, i'm PRETTY sure that my cough is irritated by the fact that half my roommates smoke in the kitchen (by the vent, but our house is supposed to be no smoking. sucks but can't do much about that i guess.
off to buy batteries!
ps is it bad i want to see "17 again"?
