Hong Kong just happens to host the smallest version of it. I'm talking about Disneyland if you haven't really realized it yet. If you're that crazy person with the D*land annual pass hanging around your next and expecting a full on replica of California in HK, well you'll be disappointed. But if you're just going for a good time, you will have a good time. And thats just what i had :)
No doubt about it. Disneyland, no matter which one you go to, is the most photogenic place EVER. It was cloudy the entire day and i still got some awesome photos (though partial thanks to the 'manual" settings on my NEX-5 :P). Way too many to post. So I'm just going to spazz a bit.
It was cold, about to rain, and cloudy the entire day. And you know what that means... EMPTY PARk!!! Okay it wasn't that empty, but compared to going on a holiday, it wasn't as swamped and the lines weren't long. There are 4 major "lands" or parts of the park. Like i said, HKDL is probably the smallest Disney park, so sadly no Haunted Mansion or ToonTown. But HKDL still maintains that same seamless transition between lands. That's Disney Imagineers at work right there.
Main Street USA
The Christmas/New Years season had ended (about 2 days before i went), but the Christmas decorations were still up. Either way, i still loved it and this is always my favorite part of the park, especially because they blast Music Man and Hello Dolly songs into the streets.
Live performances are always great for the nostalgia and the Marching Band was a nice sight on the slightly washout streets that cloudy day. Still, i went crazy with the camera.
Of course, the (still) candy cane studded gazebo hosted Mickey and Minnie the entire day as well as 30 minutes of waiting in line. The Mouse couple took 2 breaks in that timeframe. lol :)
My only disappointment? Not seeing the Dapper Dans. I specifically waited till 3:20 when the gal said they'd be there. They weren't, and i didn't get to request a "Lida Rose/Will I Ever Tell You" moment T_T
Fantasyland
I visited this place third but the pictures below were the ones I were waiting for the whole day. We were taking pictures of Small World and I shrieked. My mom thought something happen. I spotted Alice :)
I brought my Hatter doll that day. I asked her where Hatter was and she said he was back in Wonderland. I whipped out mini-Hatter and told her i shrunk him. She did a little "Oh!" take. Mom got the picture (on her camera though). Thank you
bri_chan for hooking me on the Alice/Reginald franchise :D
She was positively adorable :)
Small World was down the day before we went due to "renovations". Oh well, not like i need to have that creepy song stuck in my head again.
Sleeping Beauty's castle daytime shot :)
Went back to Fantasyland at night to take the teacup ride. WEEEEEEE- *hurl*
Tomorrowland
The weight of some obscure planet on my shoulders/hands.
So this was another part of DL i was looking forward to because you could only find this attraction in HK (or Paris i believe). Basically, you interact face to face with Stitch on a screen. and its like a legit interaction with names and everything. No animatrons. Just the character :) He discovered a planet and was going to name it after an adorable married couple in the audience. He spelled they're names wrong and asked the computer to "delete planet". the computer literally "deleted" the planet... into a million pieces. Stitch was sad and cried. We all laughed and said "awwwwww". I wanted to hug him really badly.
NO LINE FOR THIS RIDE HELLZ YEAH!!! Last time i went to D*land the line was 1 hour wait. I didn't bother going, so this was the first time i went on Astroblasters.
Adventureland
Home of the world famous Jungle Cruise, probably my favorite ride (if you have an awesome skipper). Our's was pretty good, with the standard random scream when the headhunters fire "darts" and the "water spraying" elephants. No cheesy puns though due to all the skippers having to speak 3 languages (English, Canto, Mandarin). Hence more sight gags. The different part of HKDL Jungle Cruise was that there was an added section with a "Fire God, Water God" fight, where the water in front of us would suddenly go up in flames, then a rock in the shape of a mouth would vomit a water bomb to put our the fire, shrouding the cruise (and my camera lenses) in steam.
HKDL also houses Tarzan's Treehouse. You have to take a raft to get to the other side and after watching "Festival of the Lion King", it was getting late, so we didn't go to it. I got a nice pic though :).
"Leaky Tikis" that squirt water and vapor. If they added a Tiki Room I'm sure it be even more awesome.
NOMNOMNOMNOM chicken pie :)
Park Closed at 7:00. Fireworks display (big ooooos and aaaahhhs). With an open mind and heart, i can say it was very much, a magical day.
Wow... FINALLY done after putting this post together for 3 days. Heading back home to reality tmr. sucks...
Peace out,
