Good Things Come with Time

Dec 31, 2011 22:13

i posted 3 weeks ago promising I'd come back. Well here I am. And its almost 2012. Crap. WHAT DID I DO TODAY????

Well, to be honest WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS OF MY LIFE?

I've have SOOOO much spaz worth material these past days, but I've never had the time to post due to studio. But then again, i'm grateful too.

This has been an amazing 1st semester and i couldn't say I've loved this year more. I was looking back at my New Years post from last year (WOW its already been 1 year since i started this live journal thing). I was going to do a retrospect of my top 10 memories of 2011, like I did with the post last year, but i wanted to be original and do something different...

OH WELL!

Top 10 MAJOR obsessions of 2011 (some I got to on this blog, some I never did)
  • PC games. Thank you Steam Holiday Sale for emptying my wallet. Spaz post coming soon
  • Comic book shops. Forbidden Planet = my haven aside from studio. Second reason my wallet is empty.
  • Getting stuff mailed to me (Amazon). Third reason why my wallet is empty. Posters, Buttons, Commissions, Oh Mai!
  • Ukulele. I finally have an instrument that is PORTABLE. Unless I'm that dude who plays the piano in Washington Square Park
  • Adventure Time. WHERE DID THIS CRAZY YET GENIUS SHOW COME FROM????
  • Young Justice. My New Teen Titans.
  • Blue Exorcist. My New Naruto.
  • Bakuman. Its a MANGA about MAKING MANGA.
  • Batman and Flash. Like... as INDIVIDUAL SUPERHEROS. Not together. omg i need brain bleach now what did i do to myself.
  • Playwrights Horizons Theater School. For christs sake I have a drag performer for a professor (Salty Brine = amazing)
Note how musical theater has almost disappeared. LE GASP. lol jk love is still there. Just haven' watched any shows lately

Top 10 of 2011

10) Drama Cantorum. I'm hesitant to put this up here because it was the most exhausting experience of my life and there is no way I want to do it again. But I think it gave me confidence in myself since getting the solo. And thankfully it gave me cross studio and school friends where we bonded over our mutual frustration over the long hours of doing NOTHING.

9) The Crucible. Honestly, I've never been more amazed. After watching it being done by the 4th Years at playwrights, I thought to myself my GOD I GET TO WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE. Several of the faculty was in there too, and I couldn't be happier.

8) SAS Fall Break and Thanksgiving get together. First there was the get together with all the New York people + the Princetoners over break. Then the annual Thanksgiving get together where we (unofficial) set the record for most people to go to a reunion. It was so weird seeing everyone we had spend so many years together with in one room, coming back from the world of... well... college. Preparing for that same strange yet tingly feeling when I go to visit school again.

7) Getting an Xbox. Remember when I obsessed over Catherine? Yeah... totally worth the $70 bucks for the deluxe version. I wear the t-shirt and the boxers as nightwear. Super comfy :)

6) Harry Potter pt2. The End of an Era. I cried. and cried. and cried. It was everything i hoped it would be. It was even more epic in 3D imax even though we unintentionally got those tickets because they didn't have 2D. We were so overwhelmed by the opening sequence. Then we realized the sequence was just a commercial for imax. My god how technology has progressed.
  5)  Graduation 2011. Due to the fact that its all ready been a semester since graduation happened, it feels SO last year. But it wasn't, it was 6th month ago since I got that diploma, and i still think about the moment when we mistook the final cue from Mr. Kid despite hours of practice, laughed, then finally threw our caps in the air.

4) Going to NYU. The 3NTAC and the crazy antics of the people on that floor (well, 75% of that crazy comes from room 605. Of that 75%, 50% come from Vincent), Walking through astor place and washington square park to get to classes. Playwrights Horizons 2011, subways, starbucks, friends, CITY. To quote myself screaming at 1am in Times Square after watching Salty Brine and Justin Levine a Pepper and Sam, "I FUCKING LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY!!!!!!!"

3) NY Comic-Con 2011. As if my post wasn't spastic enough. It was my very first convention where fellow geeks, nerd, and otakus gathered, where my costume was actually recognized by people. Where I waiting in line for 3 hours to get Pen Ward to sign something is TOTALLY worth it. I don't think I've had so much fun with total strangers before. Counting the days till next year!

2) Blue Group Playwrights 2011. These guys have been the bread and butter of my time at Playwrights and one reason why i drag myself out of bed at 7. We grew SO much in 1 semester, as individuals and as a group, and though I'm out of town too often and missed several parties for that reason, i can genuinely say that every class i subconsciously think to myself, "Wow, all of these geniuses are my classmates and i get to watch them work and work with them every day". So: Amanda, Anna, Colby, Dan, Emi, Jasper, Javier, Jenna, Lindsey, Luke, Martin, Rosemary and Sierra, thank you (I DID YOUR NAME IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER I'M SO COOL).

1) Coming home to The Lunchtable. You know I love you guys. Remember the red herring I threw when I said I was going to be back for high school? LOL not true. I honestly can say I've never felt like I've belonged more than with you guys. I'm repeating myself but thank you for making me feel like I've never left. Thank you for taking me in like a long lost sister and all of my crazy antics that came with it. And thank you being THE reason why I've been looking forward to coming back to Edison after 10 years abroad.

And thats it! Wow. I haven't written a post this long. And i'm EXHAUSTED from writing it. I guess With the extra free time i have I'll be writing more often. That or i'll be too busy playing all the new games I got on steam and never actually spaz about them... OH WELL. I'm just clicking the post button without checking for grammar errors and whatnot, which probably is a bad idea seeing as I will read this tomorrow and smack myself for having made such stupid mistakes. Then I'll be to lazy to click the edit button and fix the problems.

Happy 2012. Now have some cake (the one that isn't a lie).

Peace out,

Tenshi
