~0/I'm getting a new computer, I'm getting a new computer!/0~
Well, okay, it's not *new* new, but it's new to me... And it'll be my "first ever I paid for it myself" computer. ::bounce bounce::
It's a G3 PowerBook Wallstreet laptop (just like the one I have). Except that for $650, I not only get the computer, I get:
- The computer and battery
- The extra battery
- The battery charger (holds two batteries)
- The power converters (old foot-warming style) for the PBook and the charger
- A VST/floppy drive
- A CD drive
- A USB card (and dongle)
- A Firewire card (and dongle)
and
- A Wireless Networking Card
It's even got 192MB of RAM.
Dude. Buying my computers from guys that work at CIS roxxors.
(Apparently, he bought himself a new IBook, and then either the one he has got broken or he got techie lust over the bigger screen, so he's selling the WallStreet either to get his IBook replaced or to upgrade it to the bigger screen size.)
I'm definitely going to have it by next week. I'm trying to get him to take $200 in cash tomorrow (that being the max I can get out of the ATM) and then $450 in a cheque on Tuesday (that being when work starts up again for me at CIS) so I can bring it home tomorrow and start playing with it.
Of course, I also have a paper to write for my thesis prep class, and since the logic board is failing on the computer I'm working on now, I'm somewhat leery of running anything other than Netscrape on it, so I can't really work on this one. Poor baby.
But when I get the Poor Baby Mark II, I'll be able to give this one back to gdmusumeci and then he can deal with it. ;P Or, to perpetuate the OS wars that are my life, I might see if I can get him to let me reformat it and install some form of Linux (other than OSX) so I can learn to play nicely with that, too...
Anyway, that's my *good* news for the day! (I had to borrow the money from my step-dad, who grumbled about it mightily, but that's okay. It's MINE! All MINE! ::bouncebouncebounce::)
