I have been ridiculous in my "not reading" in May and the beginning of June, but it seems to be picking up. I've tackled a couple of short books and little by little I'm working it back into my day.
Book 28 was Don't Get Too Comfortable, a collection of essays by David Rakoff who is part of that whole group of NPR-loving writers. David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell, they're all interlinked and friendly - the book contained a reference to "his friend Sarah, a history buff", etc etc. It was cute and short and good bedtime reading. I'd read an essay or two a night and soon I was done.
Book 29 was Something Borrowed, Somthing Black, by Loren Estleman, who is a local writer. I've read some of his other stuff, mostly his Amos Walker books, but this was a different series, about a mob hitman. He's tried to walk away from his old life. He's married a hottie 21 year old (half his age). But his old life has a way of not wanting to let go.
I've been working on a book of X-Men short stories, too. Its still up next to the bed and I think I only have 3-4 stories left in it, so I should be through that soon, and this month's audiobook is Singularity Sky by Charlie Stross, because I kept hearing his name in sci-fi circles but had never read anything of his. I'm about two hours into a 9 hour audiobook, and while it started strong, it slowed a bit, and I'm waiting for it to get back into the meat of the story. We shall see.
