Just got home from one of THE best concerts I have ever had the pleasure of attending, and I've been to some very good ones. Every review that said Imogen Heap is better live was completely right, and couldn't prepare me for just how much the woman lives and breathes her art. And she rolled with some technical issues, had the audience cracking up, and she made a point of engaging with the community by headlining local talent AND supporting a local charity with an improvised melody. The local talent, a pair of girls who call themselves Melaia (not sure that's the right spelling), were actually very good and I was sad that they didn't have a CD available. Lisa, my lovely companion, was likewise impressed by the whole show, and was particularly enchanted by Ben Christophers, who opened after Melaia and also played in Imogen's band. Lisa bought his CD, and I am hoping she'll lend it to me so I can swipe a copy to enjoy.
Kyle decided to join us, and we were so happy to have him join in, and I'm glad both Kyle and Lisa enjoyed the show. Imogen played all the songs I was hoping to hear, and most of the ones I was expecting to hear, and though the crowd was a little lifeless (DANCE PEOPLE!!!), I think Vancouver has shown that it loves Imogen Heap.
Imogen Heap, come back soon and often.
