Jake was sound a sleep when his phone rang. He rolled over a few times, stretched and yawned before he finally relized that the reason he awoke was because of the phone. He got up out of bed as quickly as he could for being half a sleep and went downstairs to get the phone. By the time he got there the answering machine had picked up.

"Jake, it's Wil, if you're awake-" Wil's voice started through the machine.

Jake picked up the phone, "Wil? Where are you, what's wrong? Why did you leave?" he had so many questions.

"I'm sorry. I was scared Matt would come after you so I went back to him. But I can't stay there anymore, I realized it and-"

"Where are you?" Jake asked again.

"This fast food place," Wil said and told Jake the intersection of where the place was.

"I'll come get you just stay there, I'm leaving now," Jake promised.

They hung up the phones. Wil looked at one of the workers of the restaurant. It was a young girl, a teenager. She had sad eyes, and Wil knew it was from looking at him.

"Are you okay?" She asked him.

He replied, "I will be," before he took a seat at one of the tables to wait for Jake.

He was freezing, his fingers were blue and he was sure his ears and face were as well. Wil felt almost completely numb.

He had to wait about 10 minutes for Jake to arrive. The moment he saw headlights pull into the parking lot, he knew it was him. Wil got up and went outside. The lights were on in Jake's car, and Wil could see him smiling. He opened the passenger door and got inside.

"You look freezing," Jake said and awkwardly took off his jacket, "wear this."

Wil looked at him and thanked him.

"So, what happened? Why did you leave when you were safe with me?"

"I'm sorry, I was scared. I thought Matt would come after you. And he would have, too. So I went back to him so you wouldn't get hurt," Wil said as he put on Jake's coat and rubbed his hands together trying to make warmth.

"I could have taken him," Jake said.

"It doesn't matter. I don't know what he would have done."

"Well it's okay now. You're going to stay this time, right?" Jake asked.

"Yeah. If you'll let me," Wil replied.

"Of course." He sounded serious but he had a simle on his face.

There wasn't much more talk for the rest of the drive. Wil was deep in thought. This time he was pretty sure he made the right decision. He felt safer. He knew with Jake he wouldn't be abused.

A few minutes later they were back at Jake's house. He led Wil inside and right upstairs, into his own bedroom.

"You can stay in here with me," he offered.

"I shouldn't..." Wil began.

"Why not? Look, I know this is all different for you, but I think you'd like it better in here with me."

Jake took a step closer to Wil, put one hand on either side of his face. They looked at each other.

"You're still freezing," Jake said.

Wil didn't say anything. Jake moved his hands away.

Awkward.

"...You should change into something warmer, I can see if I have anything you can sleep in," Jake offered.

"Thanks, that would be good."

"You still have some clothes here from before?"

"Yeah, I didn't take them all," Wil said.

Jake went through some of the drawers in his dresser and puller out a large t-shirt and some flannel sleep pants, "Will this work?"

"Yeah, that's fine, thanks," Wil took them from Jake and went into the room he has stayed in the night before to change. He reappeared in Jake's room a few minutes later.

"They look good on you," Jake said and smiled. The shirt was baggy and the pants were at least 4 inches too long for Wil. He looked like he was drowning in them

"It's alright," Wil said, "thanks... for everything. It really means a lot to me."

"You're welcome," Jake said. "And you're still welcome to stay in here with me, if you want to."

"I'm fine, I'll stay in there," Wil said and began to walk back out of the room. Jake stopped him, his hand on Wil's shoulder.

"Huh?"

"You didn't say goodnight," Jake said.

"Oh, goodnight," Wil said and gave Jake a smile.

Wil walked into the other bedroom, and Jake stayed in the hall way to shut the door after Wil was in his bed. He then returned to his own room, slightly disappointed that Wil did not want to join him. He got into bed and closed his eyes. Tried not to think about anything in particular...

Wil laid in bed and thought. Staired at the clock on the nightstand. It was after midnight. He tossed and turned for over a half hour and was unable to become comfortable. He stopped and sat up. Thought for another minute, "Would I like it better in there with Jake?
No, it's been almost 45 minutes. He's a sleep. It's too late. Maybe tomorrow? But what if he isn't a sleep yet. He'd be happy if I went in there. Right?"

A few moments later Wil decided what he was going to do. He got out of bed, walked across the hall and turned the door knob to Jake's room as slowly and quietly as he could. He pushed the door open, crept inside, looked over at Jake. He was a sleep already, at least it seemed like it. Wil walked silently over to the other side of the bed and pulled the blankets back, tried to sit down as quietly as he could.

That didn't work, the moment Wil put his weight onto the bed it squeaked loudly. Jake rolled over and opened his eyes.

"Hey," he said, "you're here."

Wil just smiled and laid down, his back facing Jake.

"You're kinda far away," Jake said, "mind if I pull you closer?"

Wil backed himself up slightly. He felt Jake's chest brush against him. It felt smooth... Wil realized he was shirtless.

Jake put one arm around Wil, pulled him a little closer until the two were completely up against each other. He left his arm around him, even after he got him into place.

Wil let out a deep breath, this was comfortable. Warm. Safe. He put one of his arms up to his chest and held Jake's hand with both of his own.
