So, what's to tell? I recently completed my 4 year contract in the Army. Last base I was stationed too, Ft. Wilkins in Sunnydale, California, had some major apocalypse shit rain down and I lost a lot of buddies in the battle. I did the debriefing thing and seriously, I'm fine. As fine as you can be when you fight in an apopcalypse and survive ( Read more... )

*steps closer to him and looks around nervously before leaning close and lowering her voice*

Did you, um, work with them in the apocalypse they told me about?

*blushes a little at the nearness of him*

*nods his head, drops his voice*

I wouldn't say that word to loud. Makes people kind of edgy.

Your sisters and their boyfriends were real brave. I hope you don't mind me asking, but if you know about what went down here, what made you decide to move here?

I...this is the first time I've ever even seen anything like this.

*looks around again before turning back to him*

I didn't decide, not really. My brothers, they decided and this sounds maybe old fashioned, but I wanted our family together.

*smiles a little*

It may be old fashioned, but I have a lot of respect for that. I told myself that if I made it through, I was going back home and never leaving.

*eyes scan the crowd quickly, before looking back at her*

Maybe it's due to me growing up in Savannah, but I know there is a lot of unfinished business in this town. Some of it's my own, so I can't leave yet. Hopefully, one of these days, I'll be ready to walk away and go back home.

*eyes widen*

Do you think it's going to happen again?

I don't know. Sure as hell hope not. No one should have to live through that once, much less twice.

*steps closer to her when a demon walks by carrying a beer*

The unfinished business I was referring too was the processing of what happened. Plus, a lot of people died suddenly and violently. Means that there are a lot of pissed off soul floating around with unresolved issues. Happens a lot to any place where there is violence or sudden death.

Wow, I had no idea that so many people died. They didn't give me details really, just you know said the 'a' word a lot and India showed me some scars. I almost didn't believe them, but then we came here and I still can't believe this is real...

*realizes she's talking a lot and blushes*

Maybe moving here isn't such a good idea.

You should stay aware of your surroundings. Make sure you know self defense, from humans and demons, and you'll be alright.

*leans against the wall*

I'm not sure I totally get it's real sometimes. You live here long enough and you get used to seeing weird stuff, but this place is actually safer than most spots in town. The owner, Ralph, he has a rep for keeping things running smooth here.

They said it would be safe for us to come here. Izzy gave us all stakes before we left tonite, but I don't think I could kill something. I have a hard time killing flies.

*smiles and looks down*

Maybe I should just stay inside after dark, huh?

Do you know how to defend yourself? Basic self defense and the use of a crossbow?

*looks thoughtful*

A crossbow would be your best bet because it would allow you distance from the predator. However, you should learn how to handle yourself with basic self defense moves.

No need to stay in after dark, but I would make sure you aren't walking around on your own.

I don't know anything about any of that. I don't usually go anywhere, either.

*frowns*

You mean those classes where they teach you to um yell and kick a man in a puffy suit? I couldn't do that.

You wouldn't have to go to a class like that. Hell, I could teach you, if you want.

*smiles at her*

You won't care that I'll skip the puffy suit, right?
