Sizzix Inspiration : Christmas Decor Box
Hello crafters ! Wow, October has really zoomed past and we are nearing Thanksgiving and Christmas. Have you started on your handmade gifts yet ? There are many amazing and inspiring online sites including Sizzix.com where wonderful ideas for projects are available ....... honestly, your only problem would be the lack of time to view them all !!
First things first : If you are a Sizzix user in Singapore and have questions about the Big Shot, or any Sizzix product, please contact Made Wtih Love directly. From my personal observation, there are a few local crafting Facebook Groups posting wrong, inaccurate or incomplete information about Sizzix products and you might end up damaging your dies or the Big Shot.
Today I have a little Christmas Box which can hold a tiny album or party favours. Imagine the delight of your guests when they sit down at the dinner table to find this personalised gift to take home. This is not a difficult project and I encourage you to use your own ideas in custoimising this box. The finished height of this box is 8 inches and don't worry, a list of supplies are at the bottom of this tutorial !

I LOVE the Distress Glitter Festive Berries, it just makes the project pop.
These are the close-ups. The tags are from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Merriment ephenera pack.
First I die-cut the Little Sizzles cream mat board with the Eileen Hull Box/Candy Drawer die. Remember, it's important to position the die in the exact center of the Cutting Pad and then, sandwich the die with the material between the Cutting Pads and roll this through the Big Shot. This die is an XL Bigz and you will need to use the Extended Cutting Pads. More information is available *HERE*.

Roll through the Big Shot and this is how the mat board looks after die-cutting.
The score lines are automatically made as the mat board passes through the Big Shot. It's all easy-peasy, there's no need for any guessing ! Fold the outer box cover and the drawer according to the score lines, then glue securely. I suggest you use a strong glue like Beacon's 3in1.
Paint the inside of the box with Distress Paint Festive Berries.
Next die-cut the Festive Gent and I have to say of all the Christmas dies, this is my favourite !
Paint both sides with Festive Berries.
I love Distress Glitter with its old fashioned vintage feel ........ BUT ....... previously I found applying the glitter to be a hit and miss thing. After some experimenting, the easiest and least messy way would be to use Spray Adhesive which you can get from any art store. Spray the die cut thoroughly.
Remember to move the die cut to another adhesive free area before adding the glitter. Pour the Distress Glitter over the Festive Gent and lightly pat it down using a piece of scrap paper. This will make sure glitter sticks to every bit of the die cut. After this, use tweezers to lift the die-cut and tap gently to dislodge any loose glitter.
Next step is to create a base by trimming a mat board slightly bigger than the box and wrapping it with pattern paper.
This is the under side of the base and you can see where I adhered the Idea-ology Hitch Fasterners.
The Fasterners are the perfect size as legs for the box !
Glue a piece of pattern paper behind the drawer. If the pattern paper is thin, double it up to make it thicker. Then trace the shape of the Festive Gent.
Cut out the shape.
Add 3-D foam, and position the Festive Gent over the pattern paper.

The box is almost done ! All you need to do is add the tags and embellishments as you like, then make your own accordion book to fit in the drawer.
This was an enourmously fun project to put together as you will find when you try this out. Have a wonderful November !
