What do you think about a team format tournament?

So I've been playing with tsh a lot in the past week trying to figure out how to do pairing formats, etc for CUSS WORDS.  One of the conclusions that I have come to is that I might just scrap class prizes altogether.  The reason being that I might just have everything be team-play.

The idea is, you show up having been preassigned to a team.  Teams of 3-4 people is best based on overall size.  Your team would be composed of people that would most closely level the field ratings wise (with the highest rated player of each team being the captain).  Then we do a straight KOTH format for 8 rounds, with no repeats (not even in the final round), no interteam play, and in the end, the team with the highest raw win total wins almost all of the prize money.  We would probably also have a prize for the highest finishing person outside of winning team. This would insure that the person who came in first in the whole field would definitely get some money.

I like the idea, but in practice I don't know how much the top players would like it.  It seems like whatever team gets a severely underrated player (like Turissini or Kofoed) would have a distinct advantage, in the same way the people who have inflated ratings (like myself) would be at a distinct disadvantage.

In the end I guess I don't care that much in that the idea is really to mix things up a lot, not worry too much about equitability, and allow underrated players the ability to shine (in this case by being the driving factor for a team win) even if they aren't winning the event.
