I was right! They did know Jack watched them :)

You got the mood just right here, from eager, impatient passion in Jack's office to the awkwardness and embarrassment of 'where do we go from here?' back in the Doctor and Rose's flat. So plausible that they'd all be wondering what to say, or afraid of revealing too much or saying the wrong thing.

I loved this:

"I want a partnership," he said soberly. "I want to be with the two of you, serious, long-term. I'm not asking for a commitment ceremony tomorrow," he added, somewhat hastily, "but . . . I want a shot at making something work between us. I don't just want a quick shag, or a shallow fuck-buddy relationship." He smiled a little weakly, and looked away from them, taking another swallow of his tea.

Poor Jack. You've hinted at what sounds like an interesting back-story for him: the Doctor convinced that he's been hurt in the past, for example. It doesn't sound as if this Jack is the playboy extraordinaire his other-universe counterpart is. I think we also need to know how come he's in the 21st century; did he come from the 51st originally, or is this Jack actually a contemporary of Rose's? And, of course, how do they handle telling him the truth about themselves and about the other Jack?

I could see that you might be a bit hesitant to answer some of those questions in a sequel, given dameruth's already done it in her Jedverse - but I think you can certainly tell your version of it. Your Jack is different enough from her Jed to give you the scope, and I hope you'll take up the challenge.

Thanks so much for writing this story! This is one of the prompts I was dearly hoping that someone would write, and I'm thrilled that it was you :) I've updated the Bonus Ficathon Masterlist to include this story. Thanks again so much for taking part!

I hope you'll do it, too! I am dying to know the answers to all these questions (not to mention there is not nearly enough alt!Jack fic out there to feed my ever-growing addiction). This was tender and hot and tinged with just the right amount of angst.

I'd been thinking I might want to write my own Pete's World OT3 fic, but between you and dameruth, I might not have to!

Yes. Yes, they did. :D:D

I'm glad you think the scene when they walked into the flat is plausible, because the characters took the bit between their teeth and ran with it. I wanted to get into the sexxin', but they insisted--it's part of why this chapter took longer than I'd hoped, because I kept insisting that it was going to jump straight into the sex. When I let them have their head, it all but wrote itself.

His back-story is slowly revealing itself to me, yes. I won't say he had an easier time of it than our Jack, but it was difficult in very different ways.

I could see that you might be a bit hesitant to answer some of those questions in a sequel, given [info]dameruth's already done it in her Jedverse - but I think you can certainly tell your version of it. He's already poking me in the subconscious, damn him. :P You put ideas in his head, I know you did!! (And the advantage to being friends with dameruth is that she can say, "Uh, no, you're mixing up Jed and alt!Jack" reasonably easily.)

Thanks again so much for taking part!

Oh, you're welcome. Thanks for being so patient! :)
