Getting ready!

We're going to do a lot more in the way of games and student-led activities this year, and I just prepped one that's gonna be fun. It's called "MathMania", and it's actually referenced in the first unit my higher kids start. It's basically Jeopardy!, but with math stuff. I've got adding fractions, subtracting fractions, adding decimals, subtracting decimals, and percentages (i.e. I give them a fraction, like 1/2, and they have to tell me the equivalent percentage). It's a combination diagnostic, review, and get-to-know-you game that lets me practice their names. And when we get to the first unit and my higher kiddos see the game in the book, it'll make a lot more sense.

*polishes fingernails* Feeling pretty damn good about the beginning of school. First day is Sept. 8. Bring it on!
