Stupid question

Do the TARDIS's doors open out or in? Or both, depending on the episode? I seem to remember they open out.

they open *in* (this is one of my fanfic bugaboos... people are always talking about pushing the door closed when they're outside, but they need to be pulled closed from outside)

Thank you! I'm betaing a fic for a friend, and I didn't want to accidentally tell her the wrong thing. Turns out, she was right! :)

no problemo :) another one of my bugaboos is when they're writing smut about 10 talking about unbuckling his belt and unbuttoning is trousers. If you look you'll see he doesn't wear a belt at all and the clasp on his trousers are the cross-over fabric with a hidden metal hook/eye type, no visible button there might well be one underneath, of course... most dress trousers have one, but we can't see it).

Ahaha, there was once a whole inquiry about this on time_and_chips... I remember someone actually emailed a person in their costume department to ask how Ten's trousers close. And they actually replied, saying exactly what you said.

Also, the TARDIS opens in; I can't remember it ever opening out.

ditto - they open inwards. Mickey has to pull the door closed in the Christmas Invasion when he ventures outside and Rose shouts at him to close the door.
