This email was waiting in my in-box this morning:
I hope that you are well. I wanted to update you on the recruitment situation here in England at the moment.
Schools in England are currently on their half term break and they will return to work on Monday 1st June. June is traditionally our busiest time for recruitment, as all teachers who are not returning to their schools for September will have handed in their resignations.
It is essential that you keep us up to date with your current circumstances and if you decide that you are no longer coming to England then please let us know as soon as possible so we can deactivate your file.
Please also notify us immediately if any of your contact details change. You can email us directly or log in to your online account area.
If we do have a school that is interested in your application we will try to contact you by telephone in the first instance. If we do not manage to speak with you we will email you with the details; so please check your emails and messages on a regular basis.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
I'm really really hoping that DoDDS comes through too, but honestly? I think the British system may do first. I sent an email telling them that I'll need to live in a place where I won't need a car (since there's a very low chance that I'll be able to afford one, along with other moving expenses--I'll need to pay off the remainder of what I owe on my current car with what I get from selling it), so chances are high that I'll end up in a city. Manchester or its suburbs would be really nice, since
sensiblecat is there. London's a bit expensive (well, a lot expensive), so living there makes me a little worried. I really don't want to flat-share with someone I don't know. Actually, I really don't want to flat-share, full stop. I've lived on my own for long enough that sharing space with someone else is a bit ... intimidating.
Anyway, that's what's going on so far. Thanks for all the good wishes!
