WASL update

Apr 16, 2009 09:03

Today our school is giving the first half of the math WASL - math with tools
(rulers, calculators, protractors, etc.). Every student was given each of
those, plus a pencil and their booklet, and they've been remarkably good
about using them. I've only had one problem and a potential one today - a
kid who was eating in class and refused to get rid of it when I told him to
(insubordination) and another kid who opened his test to the actual problems
before he was supposed to, when I was giving the directions, and then
pitched a minor fit when I tried to get him to pay attention. The first kid
was taken out of the room to do his test somewhere else, and the second
calmed down, so all's well. (I did ask our school WASL officer if the second
kid caused an "irregularity," but he said no--and since he's our Vice
Principal, and REALLY up on the legal side of things, I trust him.)

Also, I brought out a whole stack of math worksheet packets and threatened
the kids with them if they were causing a problem. *G* So it's a lot quieter
in here. Well, except for the kid who was drawing on notebook paper after
finishing her test, and decided to crumple it all up. LOUDLY.

About half an hour left until I actually have a planning period. Yay!
