So yesterday,
souleswanderer and I went out and about in the beautiful Washington weather (with the big yellow ball in the sky and all), and we took Ten with us. HE, of course, had a mission of his own: Looking For Rose.
First, we went on a search for his favourite intersection, and found something else on the way: Jack's side business. Ten was a bit shocked, and flailing--that's why he's blurry. Did anyone else know about this?
Once we'd calmed him down and kept him from storming inside to demand where the hell Jack was and what he thought he was doing, we continued on our quest. Unfortunately, we ran into a dead end.
"What? What? What's this? A DEAD END? No, no, no, there can't be a dead end here. It must go through! We can't end here! There must be something hidden somewhere--we can find it if we look hard enough--maybe we can ask the neighbours!"
It took us awhile to calm him back down again, and convince him that there might be yet another version of it. So a bit more driving later, we came across this:
"YES! I knew we could find it! Tenth and Tyler! Though it's NORTH Tenth, of course, and SOUTH Tenth would have made much more sense, what with my accent and all. South London, you know, not North London. But still! Tenth and Tyler! That's got to be a good sign! Anyone see any references to Bad Wolf about?"
Once we'd got him out of there (which took some doing), he insisted that we go on a search. Apparently, he was convinced we could find Rose SOMEWHERE about. So he took us down to Point Defiance park, where he led us on quite the chase.
"Waterfall! You know how Rose loves water. You know, we found a waterfall on this planet in the R6UY galaxy. She decided she wanted to have a bit of a swim. First time I saw her in a bikini, that. ...What do you mean, why am I smiling?"
So, for old times' sake, Ten had to take a dip of his own:
"Whew! Bracing, that!"
...and we continued on.
I think Ten got a little disturbed by the size differential between himself and the Real World.
"This isn't a rhododendron. This is a bloody MONSTER!"
...but we pushed on anyway. He was fairly well chuffed when we found the Rose Garden.
"Rose! Well, not my Rose, but a rose. Well, not technically a rose, either. More of a rose bush. But there will be roses soon!"
"YES! I knew it! There had to be roses somewhere. And this one's pink! Rose loves pink. I should get this for her... except it would die soon, wouldn't it? Maybe I'll buy her a rose bush with pink roses. Or maybe a whole garden of them. The TARDIS would expand the conservatory for it, I'm sure...."
He even unbent enough to try something a little more traditional. Or rather, attempted to.
"Oi! How'm I meant to toss a coin in the wishing well if it's boarded up? That's hardly fair, is it? I mean, you give us a wishing well, and then you close it. And I've found an American penny, too!"
But in the end, we had to give up. He didn't want to, of course.
"Well, she could be here. Really, she could. I mean, this is bloody HUGE. Anyone could fit in there. YOU could fit in there! Er--sorry. That was rude, wasn't it?"
All in all, it was a lovely day for an outing. Even if Ten did get a bit sunburnt. Poor bubbers.
