i completely loved seattle. i miss it already and cannot wait to go back.
we did the typical tourist things - ie, space needle and pike place market. also did an underground tour, which was really awesome. mt. rainier is absolutley beautiful. the next time that we go, we are actually going to do some climbing. want to hit up olympic park the next time we are there too. and for all of you that say there is soo much rain in seattle, you are all mistaken. it spat at us twice- once while we were hiking/climbing at discovery park. no worries, i obviously didnt melt. i also ended up with a little sun, since it was sunny pretty much the entire time. we went at the right time of the year.
so, something i found interesting in seattle. like many cities, there are a number of homeless people. but, when you visit the city, you see signs EVERYWHERE to say no to panhandling. this is because there are hundreds of soup kitchens and things to the liking that are sponsored by the government and non-profits for people to go to for food, clothing, etc. they ask that any $ you would give directly to a person, you bring to a shelter instead. i guess this is there way of combating using $ for booze and what not? and really, people in general didn't give things those that were panhandling. and those that were pandhandling, werent nearly as 'in your face' as in say...chicago?
the music scene, newspapers and politics in seattle are priceless. hopefully in a year or two i can call seattle home, but dont be counting on it. the husband has to find a job out there - or, i have to leave him. your call.
kalee is now at grammas. it makes me sad. im so alone when i am at the house. ugh. hopefully she stops her whining and can come home. til then, i will be one sad girl.
