Hey, did you guys know that in 1492 Chris Columbus sailed the ocean blue? Look on your calendars, folks, tomorrow's Columbus Day! I didn't even have to look at a calendar to know Columbus Day was coming up though, because when you work in a library, the kinds of kids books checked out tends to coincide with their curriculum. And yes, you all may tell me that Columbus wasn't the first to discover the New World, and you would be right. Yet, I can't in my mind understand why people put so much emphasis on who FOUND it first when it matters more on who CAPITALIZED SUCCESSFULLY on it first. And what a depressing story that is, too. =/
