Mum managed to get two Japanese films to watch:
K-20: Kaijin Niju-Menso is an enjoyable movie with amazing visuals though the storyline is kinda reminds you of Batman even down to its soundtrack and Gotham-looking city. Hardly any shows starring Kaneshiro Takeshi are disappointing for he is fun to watch. =p Boy, I haven't seen Nakamura Tohru and Matsu Takako appearing for some time. Nice to see them again although they look much older now.
Watching Departures a.k.a. Okuribito made my eyes well up in tears. I can never take deaths well so I ended up sniffling whenever someone dies in the film. (T__T) It's a very touching film, no wonder it won the Best Foreign Language Film award. This film gives an insight of a mortician's job and it's interesting to know that there is an art of encoffinment which we don't usually get to see.
Ohh, I'm looking forward to watching MW based on Tezuka Osamu's manga of the same title ever since I saw the promo picture above. Starring Hiroki Tamashi as the diabolical Yuki, this film is going to be drool-worthy. lol. XD Just finished reading the manga and gosh I have to say it was brilliant! Now if only they stay true to the manga I would die a happy fangirl but I heard the director is focusing more on the thriller part rather than the relationship Yuki shares with Father Garai and his many victims (oh, he's bi =p). Pity really for I feel those scenes show how much of a manipulative bastard he can be. But then again, squeezing a 3-volume plot into a movie would need some excessive cuts. =/ Anyway, hope the DVD pops up here in the future. o(>__<)o
