We finally watched Skyfall last night. Overall, it was good. It was a little too long and got kind of boring for a while in the middle but still good.
I loved that there wasn't a "Bond girl" in this movie. Of course, he had some random sex and that's fine. But the focus of this movie, his female "sidekick" was M. Having a Bond girl would have cheapened M's death. And just GAH that she died. ;__; She was my favorite part of Bond movies, tbh.
One of my guilty pleasure shows is Hart of Dixie. I don't know why I like that show. It's so corny in every way. But anyway, why did Wade have to cheat on her? I liked them together and I like him way more then George Tucker. I knew that the show wouldn't make them last (I mean, its only the second season after all) but that doesn't mean I have to like it!
Castle, two parter- As soon as the hired gun guy said "If I'd known who [your daughter] really was, I wouldn't have taken the job!", I totally knew that Castle's dad was involved/was some bad ass spy. Then an old guy with a gun saves him? Yeah. In general, I think that's ridiculous, like if you think about it the context of reality. But I still liked it. I thought the dad was pretty funny. As to the Alexis being kidnapped plot line- I liked that she was scared yet tough, trying to stay level headed about it all. As unrealistic as it is, I'm glad she didn't get physically hurt.
There was this part in the first episode where Castle was talking about first holding his daughter and it felt like he'd be struck by lightening and that it was love- the kind you can only feel for your child. That speech made me tear up because damn, I've had those exact thoughts about my own daughter. I was surprised when Beckett said she didn't think Castle would "have that in him" (to torture someone for info). I'd think as a cop, she see that anyone was capable of anything. Or maybe I'm just too cynical. But anyway, I didn't find that scene shocking at all.
I finally, finally finished Wizard's First Rule. Nothing happened for 790 pages and then everything was summed up in the last 30 in a really haphazard way.
This week, I've read Kelley Armstrong's Waking The Witch and Spellbound, 2/3 of the last Otherworld books. The last three are basically a trilogy, to end the series in a big bang. They're been ok books, but not the big deal fireworks I was expecting. I think they're the same level of interesting as the other ten in the series. I'm loving Savannah as the narrator though. I'll be picking up the last book at the library today. A little sad that the series is over, but thirteen books is a good run. I wish that Jamie and Eve had gotten more than one book each though.
Nothing else going on with me lately. Fandom has sort of taken over.
