Layla is sort of amazed and befuddled and pleased by all these new things she's learning about Warren. And how nice he can be. And his little girls. She's going to keep taking care of him as long as he keeps expecting her to, and really she just wants him to be as okay as it's possible to be in mad science crazy zombie prison summer camp.
A-and she's really flattered that he loev the treehouse.
Ash thinks of Warren in very twisty and complicated ways that basically boil down to 'good kid, bad temper, needs people who support him so he can learn camp's rules'. He feels bad about the whole Kieran thing, but...that's Kieran. Warren does remind him of the husband, but not in the same ways he probably reminds most people of Kieran. Ash sees the bitterness and the cagey hope and the laziness and the protectiveness more than he sees the bad temper and violence and physical similarities.
1. Warren is finding Layla way less annoying now that she isn't constantly being all ":D :D :D Ahahaha Warren you're so craaaaaa-zyyyyy~~~" and touchy at him all the time. And by way less annoying I mean... he's actually really starting to like her. She didn't have to make him a treehouse or make sure he got fed, and she's generally open and honest and he feels like she knows him. He does get a little frustrated at how fluffy she seems to think he is (I AM SCARY DAMNIT) but he's not really wanting to scare her very much anymore. It's better for them both to be friends. In return for being taken care of, he plans to protect her from whatever mad crazy science zombie camp throws at them. Whether Will's there or not
( ... )
...I do not know whether it's good or bad that Layla just takes for granted that Warren's going to protect her.
They are totally friends ;; And he will find out about the empathy someday, I'm sure. He's not keeping it from Warren on purpose or anything, he's just not going 'look, I know you're fluffy because I'm empathic.' But yeah, he's weird. Get used to it, puppy XD
