First Legendary Illusion

Mar 09, 2010 18:24

[Mayfield residents may notice a new person with an odd hairstyle wandering around. Rather than staying in the house and speak on the phone, this one decided to wander around first, a curious expression on her face. She seems quite intent on exploring the entirety of the town.]

[It would be nice to say hello, right?]

what's this?, wandering

[I hope you don't mind cigarette fumes. Turns out the best place for Lucia to smoke is outside, away from those irritating drones.

... Odd hair is right. You look pretty young to have hair that color, never mind the style. Eyebrow raising at that, and what you seem to be up to.] Having fun?

Oh, I am, thank you! It's a very interesting place here.

Interesting... Hn, that's a word you could use, I guess. Being abruptly taken from your home, and having your things taken from you might be unpleasant at the time, but it might make a good story later. [That is, if you really feel like reliving it by telling it.]

Are you new here?

Exactly.

I suppose I am. What is this place?

[----first, she's taking the cigarette and putting it out. If we're going to have an extended conversation, it's only polite; well, unless the other party's smoking too, or she's in a really tense mood, but I digress.]

I guess that makes me the first for once. In that case, welcome to Mayfield. There's not much else to say that you haven't really figured out yourself; it's a town that kidnaps people and forces them to live here after taking away most everything you own. And nobody seems to know how or why.

Oh dear.

I was wondering why things felt so different.

[She nods. Whatever you may mean by that, you're probably right.] Pretty much.

If there's anything you're particularly missing, you'll likely get it back eventually. It doesn't make sense that they'd take it away just to give it back later on, but that's how it goes here.

That aside, if you have any more questions, I can try to answer them. I've been here for a couple of months now, and while I'm far from an expert, I do know a few things.

[The shift in tone and posture is rather sudden]

Clearly they are powerful, if they take away my nature and are willing to return it.

Tell me, are all of us here prisoners in this place?

[Sudden is right. Lucia actually pauses to blink once in surprise.]

Ah, that's right. They return your special powers too, if you have any. [She's still surprised that she's without *her* uniqities and still human; given what she knows, she'd expect to be a monster long before now in her current state, but somehow that hasn't happened yet.] And yes, that's the gist of it. Just about everyone you meet who doesn't seem to think everything's just fine would be one of us. The rest are drones.

This will be interesting. I have only known few greater than me...and even they could not do this.

Drones? As in they lack will?

[Eyebrow raise again, but not gonna ask.] Their ability to do so borders on ridiculous, if not disturbing. The other day I actually met someone they took a learned ability from for some reason or another.

... That's a good way of putting it. They apparently exist just to fill in the gaps in our pretend families. And to weird us out. Oh, and try not to do anything crazy, or you'll end up as one for a little while.

Thank you very much miss!

[... At least she isn't as crazy as some of the Umineko people she's met here. But still, interesting.]

You're welcome, but just call me Lucia. And is there anything else you'd like to ask?

That's fine! My name is Shinki, goddess of Makai. It's nice to meet you!

[ffft--what. You just made her mind blank out again. You have a gift, Shinki.] Goddess...? Er, nice to meet you too, Shinki.

Oh, before I forget, in case you haven't been told yet, or figured it out yourself, the house you woke up in is "yours".
