The City of Lights and more...

My birthday was so very wonderful.  It was my best birthday and one of the best days in a long time thanks to y'all and all that has been going on.  Kyla and I mowed around town with kitten in the back, waiting for the kennel to open.  Then we met up with peeps at DI which was fun (Thanks to Chinny for the carbs and Sylvia for the amazing mag and CDs)  And then Kyla and I ran an errand in the Metro Parks?  We were pretty messed up.  I was walking along this path in the woods with PJs on, a scarf over a heavy hoodie, huge sunglasses and flip flops.  Yeah.  She drove all the way out to Arabica.  Then we saw Drakie and I made her take care of Gary.  Then we went to Drug Mart and Adam Harry was like screaming for Kyla because he works there blowing up balloons?  And he was like "Hi there! I'm Adam"  to me and I was like ok my turn now, damn "I'm uhh Cary" and yeah.  Then my cell rang and we moved on.  Kyla thinks hes funkytown.  I have no idea.  I'm not gonna lie though, my Gaydar was sending off some sort of signals.  It's been off lately, though.  ;-)  So yeah I didn't know that you can get a buzz off cigarettes, so Kyla drove because I was feeling a little bit above the clouds.  To all you nay-sayers, this is like the third time I've smoked a few and I haven't felt what you'd call cravings once.  We'll just let that ride.  Anywho, I checked out and this really creepy cashier lady nagged me for like an hour and it was freaky.  So then we saw James Hecker for the second time and he hinked and we ran because hes a creeper.  Then we got back to Arabica and had people who I didn't necessarily want to see on my birthday peer into my car.  So Kyla acted like a girl and did makeup shit and I left.  And even though I only had half an hour to pack before we left, I still rushed out and payed $12 extra just to get the Brokeback DVD and CDs earlier from Borders.  THey are TRUE LOVE!
So then we left.  Turns out dad is on the Federal Government's 'No Fly' list because they think hes a terrorist.  Cleared that up.  Got on a red-eye direct to Las Vegas.  For all the flights to the west I've done in my life, this was awfully uncomfortable.  Oh well.  Got there.  They have slots in the terminals at the airport.  That is love.  Got the rental car.  Most streets there have 8 lanes.  Got to the Tropicana.  (Which, I might add is in the middle of the strip, if a rather worn down hotel)  Kate fell asleep.  Mom stayed with her.  It was 12 at night and my dad went out.  We went to Mandalay Bay and the Luxor.  I ate breakfast and 2 pepsis at 2 in the morning.  (LV time, it felt like 5 OH time)  Keep in mind 2 is early for people there so everything is open.  Got back to the room at 3 AM and I didn't sleep a wink all night.  Next morning we toured the whole strip.  Some of the coolest stuff you've ever seen.  God I ate so much.  Checked out.  Took the rental on a back route from Las Vegas to Palm Desert CA.  Kids, I'm telling you, there was nothing for hundreds of miles 'cept desert and mountains.  Desert mountains.  Now rememer I've been coming to CA for years, but we rarely head outside of the Coachella Valley.  It's just so... desolate.  But so cool.  You get a flat on one of those roads, you'll have a hell of a time getting out.  I love it.
Anyways I was running on zero sleep since it'd been two days since I slept.  We finally got here to the Country Club and are now chilling.  I won't omit the whole PF Changs dinner last night though.  So much food.  Makes me want to throw up all of the world.  Heheh.  So we sat by the pool all day.  It is lovely as ever.  A constant 80 degrees.  Flowers everywhere smelling like perfume and snow capped mountains completely surrounding everything.  Of course this whole area is a sort of ecological island for humans.  If there weren't sprinklers going constantly, it'd return to desert and lizards and snakes and joshua trees.  Grass and rabbits aren't natural.  Wait, actually jack rabbits are a desert thing, I take that back.  And I saw my first road runner for this trip.  Funny little birds.
Tomorrow: shopping, eating, tanning.

We're going back to Las Vegas later.  I wanted to touch on the whole smoking thing.  It is SO very weird being in a town where poeple can smoke everywhere!  It hasn't been like that in most places at home for years.  Stogies, cigs, PIPES- it's like being in Europe where you do that sort of thing most anywhere.  Just wanted to point that out.

And one more thing, for you science people.  I saw the coolest thing i have ever seen in my life on the airplane.  It was dark.  I had the window seat.  Damn this is going to be hard to explain.  Out the window i saw clear sky, but in the distance there was a large cloud.  There was a thunderstorm going on in the cloud, so there was lightning flashing constantly in every which direction.  Of course it wasn't that much to the people on the ground, but I could see the whole thing, so it happend very rappidly. I will never forget that.

Another really good fortune from the cookie last night.  I've been happy, but what are these scraps of paper refferring to?  We shall have to see.

Text me!
