We went to the New England Air Museum today, which was super cool. Going to museums with people who have knowledge about what you are seeing can make it immensely more interesting and more meaningful. It was also really neat to see the different types of displays and chat with an older gentleman who volunteers there and keeps an eye on things. He may very well have been the key to the whole trip...first, he brought us outside to check out the F-4 and A-10 that are being stored out there at the moment, but not in the public area, as they are partially covered to protect them while they try to find a way to get another hangar, etc.
And!
He let us pop our heads into the B-29 that they have! (think Enola Gay) It is almost fully restored (aesthetically, not operationally) and amazing. That is the beauty of a small museum: the ability to, at the museum's discrection, allow visitors greater insight and access to holdings.
