Star Trek

I saw it with my parents today, and I have to admit...

I really, really loved it. :D Like, hardcore loved it. Like, want to have it on DVD right now loved it.

My parents were with me and they had surprising reactions. Now, both of them are Trekkies to the core, keep that in mind. My mom loved the movie just like I did, but my dad hated it. He's totally in denial about it even existing.

Because they imploded Vulcan into a blackhole, y'all. *emotear*

Me? I couldn't care less if they turned Vulcan into cheddar cheese; it was a kick-ass movie. My dad said, and these are his exact words, "They can't do that! Vulcan is the cornerstone of the Federation! It's blasphemous!" So he's a lost cause.

But me and my mom are in agreement; Zachary Quinto was adorable and we want to give him a hug. XD SPOCK 4EVA. <3 Tell me your feelings, dear.

Anyway, I thought that besides being action-packed or whatever, Star Trek really did have a great plot. It was believeable and well-thought and I could follow it even though I'd never been indoctrined into Trek-lore before. The acting was superb. Every character was beautifully portrayed. Also, I loved how all of the secondary characters had their own unique personalities. Bones and Scotty especially. XD I adore Simon Pegg, you guys. He is so friggin' funny. I about crapped my pants when I realized that Sulu was the guy from Harold & Kumar, hahaha!

I thought it was interesting how they coupled Uhura and Spock. O: My parents told me that Kirk and Uhura had the first on-screen interracial kiss back in the original, so I was thinking that they would have something with them in the movie, but no; they took it a different direction entirely. I really liked it though because it showed that Spock did feel emotion. It also showed that he understood a lot better than he let on about how his father could have loved his mother. It was full circle. I thought it was amazing how in the beginning Uhura was like "UM, I'M ON THE ENTERPRISE." and he was like "Yes, dear. *changes listing*" AHAHAHAHAHA. <3 So cute...!

By the way, how hilarious is Kirk trying to get Uhura to tell him her first name? XD Oh my God, my ribs cracked I was laughing so hard. Chris Pine was awesome as Kirk; just the right amount of egocentric bastard. Also, did anyone else notice that he got choked, like, fifty times? Seriously, he got choked every other scene. I kept thinking "Uh, are they trying to be kinky or something?"; it was weird. Speaking of kinky, uh, what was with the green chick? Was she green for any reason in particular? Wait, ohmygawd, was she Namekian?! Shit, that would be funny. XD

So yeah. Good times. :3 I eagerly await the debate I'm going to have with one of my friend's boyfriend about it, ha ha. It should be fun; he's a hardcore Trekkie.

movies, awesome, my parents, whoohoo, star trek, epic win, fun tiemz
