rarely enjoy holidays, it's even rarer when I enjoy holidays created by the greeting card and diamond industries. But yesterday was an exception, but not in normal ways that Valentine's Day is supposed to be good. I turned in my application to transfer to the University of Washington, one day before the deadline. I will be very surprised if they don't accept me since I made every one of the transfer requirements. Nevertheless I am still not sure thing I will be going. Everything really depends on well my job is going and how well the band is doing. We'll see.
Later in the evening I saw the second incarnation of Ruby Starfruit play at Mississippi Pizza. I was very impressed with how tight the band sounded considering that they had about a week to prepare. I guess that's what happens when you know how to play an instrument. Jamie and Amber worked really well considering they haven't been playing with John Lee for too long. I don't know what the situation is with Jessica, Julie, Clint (or Weekend Warrior for that matter) not playing, but I'm glad the current line up for Ruby Starfruit is cohesive and fun to watch.
After the concert, I went to a party hosted by a friend of Andrea's in Southeast. The atmosphere was pretty much the opposite of most of the parties I have been accustomed to. As far as I know, there weren't any juvenile antics for sexual attention. There weren't any confrontations between hipsters and radicals. There weren't any cops called by semi-insane neighbors. The house was beautiful, not some slum-lord's mildew hive. And the people were willing socialize amongst each other, not just segregate themselves in typical cliques.
Some girls at the party were convinced that Jon Jurow and I were brothers. That happens a lot, but they did not believe us we said we were not related. Both of us though it might be fun to pass Weekend Warrior off as a family band, with Ana as our little sister. I don't think that would be very hard to do, which would be great. If there is one thing that is good for a band, it's misinformation.
