is there a more metal name for a band than "wolfmangler"?
this guy loses a point for saying "flautist" -- british or not, it's most definitely "flutist". I don't play the "flaute". but apart from that the article was fascinating. although it is a little hard to digest, covering so much in such a short span, especially when oddly enough although i could tell you about most genres and trends in classical music up till about 1950 or so, i have trouble mentally ascribing sounds to names of genres in "popular" styles of music, especially when you get the "post" or "proto" prefix in there. I know what I like, and I can describe it, but i have to describe it in "um well there's these kind of instruments, and its this kind of loud, and they do these kind of songs.." but i like this guy's descriptions for the most part, gives a good picture of a lot of things i've never heard. (well i've heard a good portion of the bands he mentions, but most of them are the ones like slayer, metallica, flaming lips, that he uses to create a common link to the more obscure things he's talking about. well i've heard comets on fire too but of course i know ross. so there you go.)
