We have the Lieberman curse in our family. It's an unrealistic worry about the world outside your door and it manages to surface just sliiiiiightly before I'm ready to take off on a trip. There isn't a female in my family who doesn't suffer from it even a little bit.
Funny too - my grandmother, the Queen of the Curse, was quite independent. She left her birth country at age sixteen, came to America not knowing a word of English and managed to work, learn a new language and send enough money home to bring each one of her family here, with the exception of her father who died before he could journey to his new home.
So, it doesn't matter how many miles I've logged in my lifetime - when I get into the home stretch I get a bit clingy about leaving. Then once I'm on my way, I'm okay. It's just those couple of days beforehand where I'm right smack in the middle of right now.
Kooky.
