she stood on the outside, the car was still running alive beneath the metal cage.
her tears mixed with the down pour, rain on a night when clear skies had been promised.
alone she stood in the tall grass, the skirt of white was sticking to her legs. her teeth chattered even in the middle of June.
he walked out to see her, shining the spotlight onto her frame. she looked away, but as he neared she turned to him. the red of her eyes did not hold back the beauty that he could see. her stare was permanent against the dripping back drop.
he pulled her close to him. she felt so fragile he feared that she might break, or slip away forever.
he had never understood why she feared so much. her pain was worn on her shoulders, her heart on her sleeve.
he knew that another soul had tugged at her resistence. he had been there form the beginning. they had layed together ontop of the sheets. she had spoke of fairies and turtles, her eyes wide with laughter, her smile a bridge to her inner wonder. he had taken her hand that time in the dark. when she had hugged tightly to his body, he had hugged back.
now as the water cascaded down around them he closed his eyes, silently wishing that they could run away. she had to know more then she let on.
the girl rested her head on his chest and felt his heart beat fast. here she was safe and sound, away from the others who had drug her from the warmth. beneath her skin, her soul began to crawl. she looked up and the rain washed it all away as he held her, she did not want to fall. she tried to push away, to escape something that she wanted so badly. he pulled her wrist and the struggle faded into the night. pushing back the wet locks that hung loose around her face, he put his lips to hers.
her hands danced between thier hearts.
the rain fell all around.
she feared no more the others, she felt it all lift away.
he breathed in every drop and danced with her beneath the weeping trees.
that night she laughed in the dark as they layed beneath the sheets.
the rain seranading the first of love for the first of hearts.
