5. As for ending poverty, examples from all over the world show that the only true way to stop cycles of impoverished people is through education and other social programs like public health care. I have read the Constitution, and as Courtney already mentioned the Establishment Clause I don’t feel I have to reiterate that point. I will, however, state this: the Constitution says that any charter or treaty signed by the US must be upheld as the “supreme law of the land,” (Article VI clause 2). This obviously includes the UN Charter. The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights (signed in 1948) states: Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing, medical care, necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control (Article 25).
So please, step off your soapbox, get off your high horse, and put your foot in your mouth, you elitist prick.

Just to mention, I don't think Tom or I have called anyone names or put any direct attacks on someone's character into our arguments. That is extremely immature and uncalled-for.

And just because we have different views than yours and don't meticulously study tax revenues, don't say that we are the uneducated ones.

And for my own edification, I'm absolutely NOT conservative. I just enjoy arguing. And I don't enjoy name-calling.

And it was made clear in my original post how I feel about Bush's comment on the fall of the teenage pregnancy rate so I'm not even about to go into that right now. At least, not before I eat breakfast.

If you are so concerned about being "educated" why don't you look outside a textbook for once? Read the international press, or you know - talk to an impoverished person, or a black person, or a woman who had an abortion...
Furthermore, is is common knowledge that history is subjective, and written to the benefit of the "winners" - the same can be said about economics in America. There is the same problem with textbook publishers as we currently have with the US media - there are only 6 companies that control the publication of a VAST majority of textbooks. Since the CEOs of those companies undoubtedly profit more from Republican policies (in addition to their already exploitative practices against their workers), I very well doubt they would allow the publishing of anything opposing those fiscal practices.
As for your comment about abortion, I think my sentiments can best be expressed by quoting you: "Please do not speak about something you have no idea about." Since you are a fan of being intellectual and educated here is some more information from an UNBIASED source. Just the facts. And you will not be grinning when your 15-year-old daughter dies from using a wire hanger to preform her own illegal abortion when she gets pregnant - all because she didn't know how to use a condom and her school practices abstinence-only "sex education."
