(Man, and he'd just gotten the choreography down, too.)
For the first time in what might be years, Lippi has shown a sign of sanity and dropped Fabio Grosso -- a man whom even Juve fan sites seem to agree had a fairly awful season -- from his World Cup squad. He also dumped Candreva, leaving only Marchisio to rep fierce Juve youngsters in the midfield (sorry, Camo, you don't count as a youngster anymore).
Here's the squad as it currently stands, but Lippi's still got to name his four alternates by June 1, so there's a lot of heartbreak yet to come.Portieri: Buffon (Juventus), De Sanctis (Napoli), Marchetti (Cagliari), Sirigu (Palermo);
Difensori: Bocchetti (Genoa), Bonucci (Bari), Cannavaro (Juventus), Cassani (Palermo), Chiellini (Juventus), Criscito (Genoa), Maggio (Napoli), Zambrotta (Milan);
Centrocampisti: Camoranesi (Juventus), Cossu (Cagliari), De Rossi (Roma), Gattuso (Milan), Marchisio (Juventus), Montolivo (Fiorentina), Palombo (Sampdoria), Pepe (Udinese), Pirlo (Milan);
Attaccanti: Borriello (Milan), Di Natale (Udinese), Gilardino (Fiorentina), Iaquinta (Juventus), Pazzini (Sampdoria), Quagliarella (Napoli), Giuseppe Rossi (Villarreal).
Additionally, the FIGC has
published the team's entire schedule through their opening match against Paraguay: They'll go into retreat on Sunday, and play warm-up matches against Mexico on June 3 and Switzerland on June 5 before flying out on the 8th.
