Coming into the match, an Inter win concurrent with a Roma defeat meant the Nerazzurri mathematically clinching the league title. Massimo Moratti probably had the Birra Moretti all chilled and ready to go in case Roma fell to Toro, but the Giallorossi's thrashing of the Granata meant the Interisti's champy would have to be left uncorked for another week. [No pressure, AC Milan. No pressure ;D]
For now though, let's relive that joyous eruption of goals at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome:
Giddy up?
Aquilani's back on the call sheet and was on the bench yesterday.
He didn't play, but looked pretty on the reserves roster.
Check it: Russell Crowe Maximus was in the stands.
First goal was courtesy of Pizarro, off a spot kick.
And just like you, I myself am wondering why DDR didn't take the penalty. That's usually his job.
Perrotta earned the rigore for Roma. He was really turning the heat up, even assisting Mirko's goal.
The keeper had a touch on Piza's spot-kick, but the ball went in anyway.
*plays bongo on Pizarro's gut* Someone hasn't been doing 200 crunches a day loljk
Phew.
Roma 1 - 0
I totally missed this aggro moment, but it could've been when Stellone fell and Pizarro kicked the ball straight at Stellone's abs.
They both got yellow cards after that btw
Do I spy a hip tat on Stell?
Stellone was surprisingly silent throughout. One of the publications described him as "nervoso."
I have no idea who this is, possibly Di Michele's VPL.
Late in the match, Juan got a straight red [on a very soft foul btw] for hustling on DDM. He wasn't even the last defender on there. Oh and also, Dellafiore got two yellow cards, but was never shown the red card after the second booking. Talk about terrible officiating! >=0
Mexes was solid, though he never really had to exert much effort as the match was a bit one-sided.
Mexes was all over Stellone and kept the Roman off the scoresheet.
Toro!Serb, Lazetic was mostly invisible, as was the rest of his team, with the exception of Dellafiore, who was fouling everyone left, right and centre.
Please tell me DDR isn't checking out Taddei.
Mirko was A-MAZING. He was the most active player out there, a total attacking leader.
I totally love that he just doesn't sit on front of the trident and wait for passes anymore. He CREATES his plays now. Spal says we're totally buying the other half of him this summer.
Right, so Mirko scored.
"YAY ME!"
At the most, I expected that ball to hit the post, the angle on that shot was really tight, but the goal was good. Mirko was very good.
Motta was blamed for the next goal. He got something like a 4.5 from the press, the poor bunny.
You know who's back? Amantino. He scored a brace, bitches.
Amantino's first goal was off a diving header. He was on the ground post-goal and Mirko gave him a jaw rub... of sorts.
Mirko also applied aftershave on Manci's cheeks after that impromptu face massage.
Mancini wanted to give Mirko a kiss for his troubles.
Amantino's second goal was off a chip he lobbed just over the keeper's head.
I got nervous watching since Mancini's chips often go way over, but not this, this was good.
DDR was extra excited since he totally set up that play.
Roma up by 3 now. [At which point, I was screaming my larynx and pharynx off. Good times.]
You best be grateful someone has it in them to hug you, Mancini.
[I'm bitter. He's leaving us in the summer.]
The fans were nice to him yesterday and didn't boo him this time.
ok so the logistics are as follows: Mancini on the base, Mirko over him, DDR over Mirko, and then Perrotta at the very top.
Damn, the configurations they put themselves through.
OK who wants some Toro?
NICKY PLAYED!!!
Toro scored their consolation goal off a header by Ventola.
Ventola didn't start; he came off the bench. There he is, being a benchwarmer, see?
Oh yeah, on the foreground, that's Diana right there. Being ginger and disheveled. *introduces him to Donadel*
What I said about the hip tat? Yeah, he has one, right?!
...
Oh hai, you just had a Romansplosion.
nnngh
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the drama was between Doni and Stell, and Captain DDR is trying to break it up.
...
Oh, I'm sorry, I got distracted by the Romans reclining on the ground there.
Yeah, so I guess that fan is all for selling the club to an American investor.
Back to the match. Chino busting a move.
Mexes did NOT score, though he could've scored a header to his name if it weren't for the fact he totally shoved Pisano's shoulders down to get to the ball.
In any event, disallowed goal or not, Philippe got some love.
Somewhere on the bench, Ludo is twitching in envy.
It's always the mini ones assuming the role of the koala, isn't it?
I'm fond of the Roman midget. So there's photos.
DDM plays for Toro, but he's a Romanista.
No lie, he
really is. I just realized yesterday how little DDM really was. *pockets him*
Why is everyone in this team bald?
Like Stell, I thought Rosina choked, too. [Only DDM and Nicky were great in attack. Biases aside.] OK fine, Rosina had that one chance, but DDR cleared on him, so that was that.
Endtime, 4-1 to Roma. Great first half, amazing performance by the entire team, even without Totti. I bet Checco was at home, watching with his just-operated knee up on the coffee table, welling up with pride.
And Unlike last week, there were no tears this time around. Thank God.
Away to Samp next week. Reunion with Cheetos and L'Aeroplanino, yay!
