ROMA 4 - 0 PARMA

Mar 02, 2008 21:50

So. No DDR [benched], no Mexes [suspended], no Cassetti [broken collarbone]. No problem.

That match was an absolute beauty to watch; Roma are playing their trademark attacking football again. Finally, Spal realized that defending is not our forte, and that this team was simply made to attack. It wasn't much of the old one-two as much as it was about the dummies and backheel passing [it rained backheels, thanks to Fra! And my, did everyone try to imitate him ♥]. As well, apart from netting four times, Roma also kept a clean sheet despite fielding their 3rd choice CB and a makeshift one in Panucci. All four goals were scored off deep crosses from the flanks, which merit high praises from both our full-backs, Tonetto and Cicinho. A quarter of the credit will have to go to one of Parma's finest though, for scoring an own goal-- thanks, man, I owe you. Jokes aside, overall, Roma showed a good solid team effort, and proved they can play cohesively as a unit. Funny that happens when there's no Pizarro and Perrotta on the field.

Oh and Fra broke another record and got some silverware for the honour. Pics 'neath the cut.

Romans + Frenchies = match made in Olimpico heaven

Guess those boots.

Clue: He just surpassed Losi's record for most appearances in the Roma shirt.

If you guessed Totti right, you get a good ol' Roman head rub. Congrats!

Losi was the previous record holder for most matches played for Roma. He handed over an armband to Totti for obvious symbolic reasons, as well as his kit.

Bacio, bacio

Rosella Sensi was there to congratulate the Captain as well

Damn, Losi's hands.

And then they had a little kiddie parade

And then exchanged silverware

Look, salad platters!

Slap on some grapes on there, a couple cubes of cheddar and marble jack, et voila! A festive cheese plate!

See? Fra already looks hungry

Photo op! Look alive, ppl

Aquilani was the first name on the scoreline.

Mmmm ears ♥

Whispering ~sweet nothings~ to Brighi

Oh, stay tuned. He does this again. Watch.

Keep watching.

Here we go.

Albe to Ludo: Be my koala?

Naturally, Ludo obliges.

And as you can tell, he practically forced Ludo to cling to him by raising his thighs around his waist.

"Glomp on me, mini Frenchie."

Sigh, when Romans and Frenchies get together ♥ Daniele and Philippe are proud.

Do I see a nuzzle?

Definitely.

How cute is Albe's thigh supporting Ludo's knee? ♥

I swear, this is pr0n writing itself.

Everdearest Rodrigo Taddei, Brighi has no hair for you to pull, kthanks.

Everyone wanted to love on Albe.

You see. They've made up.

Oh and also, Panucci is NOT getting a tat of himself on the bench. But nice try, Albe :P

Ludo was good; he had three scoring chances, all of which were either wide or inches off the bar. He'll get one in soon enough. Hopefully on Wednesday :P

This being one of said opportunities.

Why on earth is there a crab on the Parma kit. Just answer me that.

Small but terrible.

Ferrari was covering for Juan, who, I guess, is being rested for Madrid

He's not still ailing, is he? Juan?

His skull was still pimpin' in the air, as always

That skull? Is magic in the air.

Did I mention he's gangstah?

Lucarelli: You wanna take this outside?
Ferrari: Oh, we are outside. Want a piece of this?

Matty also partnered with Cicinho on a couple defensive occasions

Oh, here, Dessena for hameow

Tonetto played a good game; his crosses to Aquilani and Panucci both ended in goals. He's back, bitches, which is really a big relief with the loss of Cassetti. Phew

While still being solid defensively, too.

Mancini had a pretty quiet match. He wasn't really exerting as much effort, probably saving his strength for Madrid.

LOLOLOL

Mmm enemy arm veins

Interesting hand placement there, Amantino.

Doni wasn't really busy for the most part.

Except for that one time Parma scored a goal that was later disallowed.

LOL Aqui

Daniele was on the bench, slouching and laughing along with Mirko, resting up for Wednesday; Brighi filled in for him.

Brighi held his own and partnered with Aqui in the midfield [DDR-Pizarro rested]

The second name on the scoresheet was... No, not Panucci, although everyone thought it was him as well.

Own goal, bbz.

Poor Bucci, his defenders weren't much help.

Panucci will take it, though.

The team were there to congratulate Panucci despite the goal not being his.

I ROFFLED so damn hard when this goal happened. Panucci literally came flailing into the net, like he was swimming/drowning.

Why does it look like he's about to jab the damn ball

We thought it was a header...

...but the Parma defender wasn't able to control his clearance and kicked that ball in instead. My thanks.

Look at him, the little smug Romanista rubbing it in.

"No, no, I didn't score the goal." *finger wags of negation*

"No, really, it wasn't me."

He did that and then pointed back to Falcone.

Oh God and then Tonetto found out it was an own goal and got so damn pissed [it would've been his assist, you see] so Taddei and Mancini just smacked him in the back of his head-- lovingly, of course-- to appease him. So dramatic, these Romanisti. ♥

Like I said, they've made up.

Also, after Aqui's goal, Albe leaned into Panucci's nape and whispered. It was slash-tastic.

Notice, however, that things between Albe and Francesco weren't going so smoothly. Oh, Romans.

More pics later.

So since Mexes is suspended, Panucci was our centre-back. And you know what? He was damn good at it.

Work that turf, bb.

Look how he commits his entire body for that tackle. Damn.

34 is the new 25, bitches. Recognize.

I swear, he'd be ten times hotter with an untucked kit. Who's with me?

Can he officially be a centre-back now? Give the RB post to Cici, will you, Spal?

So. Cicinho. Got a start.

For that kit is not a Kleenex, kthx.

Showing Spal he could defend

Got a talking-to about dangerous play, but don't let it slow your roll, love.

Well, yes, he is Romanista now. Hence the melodrama.

Alberto filled in for Pizarro and was a better playmaker overall.

He pretty much orchestrated that goal he scored -- Aqui to Tonetto to the left, Tonetto with a cross to the box, Bucci with the block, ball lands in Aqui's foot and he scores with the slightest of flicks, sending the ball to the top of the box, totally unsaveable with Bucci lying face-flat on the turf. 1-0 ROMA!

Defended, apart from scoring...

... yet still took time to um, size up the enemy, as it were.

But let's get back to the hustle.

Ain't no stopping Albe.

'Sup Lucarelli.

Went "white on rice" on just about everyone

Why, yes, he made muppet faces, too.

LOLOL ♥

Third name on the scoresheet? Who else? Il Capitano.

Cicinho's play once again-- Cici on the right passes to Esposito, Esposito with a backheel, Fra with the one-touch and bam! Buried into the net for a powerful screamer

Finisher.

Roma 3-0!

There's the thumbsuck.

His ear looks square here, hmmm.

Aww, it was nice to see Fra smile again. He says feels good health-wise; the back isn't hurting as much, which shows. I mean he doesn't look as haggard as before.

Scorer and assister

Oh yeah, Esposito is new-ish, we just signed him this season from Cagliari.

On certain angles, Esposito reminds me of Pippo. It isn't just me, is it?

Look at that ear getting squished, aww

Fra got some love from Brighi as well

*chest pat*

Some Capitano hustle

Flailers, these two.

Fra is NOT about to do a cartwheel.

Easy on the ankle, kids.

Desperate defending

Double team all you want, you know he'll only do a backheel to an open man.

Fourth scorer of the night in literally the final minute of the match-- Mirko Vucinic, left winger, bitches! Who knew?

'Sup Dessena. [Srsly, I feel bad for Bucci already. Someone hug him, plz?]

They are so gangstah, you don't even know.

Matty: Gimme five, pimp.
Mirko: Pound it.
Me: Shazam.

More Mirko hustle

He came on for Manci late in the second half and was a left winger. Why haven't we used him here before?! [I mean prior to Fiorentina and Inter mid-week]

The goal

Off Cicinho's cross from the right, took a deflection on the post, cleared quite conveniently right into Mirko's waiting foot, and buried into near-post for the goal.

Vucinic makes it 4-0 to Roma.

More importantly, HE FUCKING SHAVED! Hobo no more!

Scorer and assister

Il Capitano was very excited for Mirko

Right so I'm sure you've heard about the little drama between the Romans during the free kick?

Truth is, tension began after Aqui's goal. My suspision is Fra wanted the assist [he was OPEN] and instead of Aqui passing to him, he took the shot. After the goal, Fra did this, instead of complementing the young Roman for scoring.

[Please, I insist, do share what you've heard as to the reasons of the little public spat.]

There were actually three ocassions on which they exchanged words-- after Aqui's goal, during the free kick, and after Totti's goal, which was when Aqui looked like he was apologizing to Fra/explaining himself.

This was during the free kick. Aqui was being a baby.

Romans are dramatic. This will blow over.

That is, if it hadn't already. romanews is reporting it's all over. Tell me what you know/have heard

Oh this was right after Fra's goal. Everyone had given the Captain their congrats, all except for Albe. Then he playfully came in and bumped into Francesco by his side and started explaining himself/repenting.

Here he is looking apologetic.

Clemency!

Prodigal Son, much?

My sincerest thanks to Angel for the pics. I could thank you forever. :P

With Inter falling to Napoli, Roma are now only six points behind the league leaders. However, with Madrid, Napoli, Milan and Lazio as La Magica's upcoming matches, you can expect the Giallorossi to be as fatigued as their rivals, if not more. We'll see how long this six-point lead lasts, but for now, it's a good position to be in.
