The good news is Totti scored. The bad news is Inter equalized in the 88th minute when the ball magically landed on Zanetti's foot. I couldn't ask anything more from our defense, really-- Juan cleared that ball. That ref, however? I'd rather not pursue the topic any further. Things will get ugly.
I'm not going to lie, that was disappointing. We had that in the bag; that is, until the 88th minute. It's easy to point fingers at certain people who got red carded, but the reason we drew was because we couldn't capitalize on the fact that for a good chunk of the second half, we were playing against 10 men and STILL failed to score. Of course Mexes' expulsion contributed to Inter's final surge, but the truth of the matter is, we didn't put away a goal when we had the chance. In fairness to Roma, they had the right idea-- the rotation was incredible, the back heels were "woah", but the finishing left a lot to be desired [What's up with that lob, Taddei? You are not Fra!].
Now, as far as Mexes, that was definitely not a second yellow. I will not insinuate anything, but there are photos that will speak for themselves under the cut-- you be the judge.
That says it all, doesn't it? "God, why" is right.
I don't have a photo of the captains' handshake, but it was cute. Javi had a present for Fra from Inter-- a silver box wrapped in blue bow?-- and he was shaking his head like, "OMG I dunno what it is, but they told me to give it to you, so just take it." It was funny. Fra was perplexed.
Thanks for the screencap, Zuper Zine! ♥
I, however, have this.
I can't believe you, Philippe. Avert your eyes!
Spal posing for the yearbook
Spal greeting an ex-Romanista
Marco Cassetti was our RB. Panucci is still ailing, while Cicinho was suspended.
He was brilliant, as always.
And shaved.
And got some attention from the Serb
They spoil me with the thigh flashing, hee.
This was when he almost scored and got past Javi and sent Julio Cesar diving for the save.
Julio Cesar denying Cassetti
*breaks a vase*
Doni, damn, was he brilliant with that save on Crespo's shot just before the equalizer.
This was after Deki came close to a header. Thank God for Marco hustling on the Serb.
I think this was Crespo's best chance early on. I thought that went in. Phew.
Max Tonetto, left-back, was so-so
Not particularly bad, not exceptionally brill either.
But he assisted Fra's goal, so I'm not going to talk smack.
Ferrari was solid, a step up from his performance versus La Viola.
Whenever there was a loose ball situation, Matty [and his skull] was there for the clearance. I praise.
He did body blocks, too.
Daniele. What more could I ask for? Could not be closed down in the midfield no matter how hard they tried.
It wasn't nasty. Relax.
And still fulfilled his defensive duties in the mid
Also, tried a screamer in the 2H. I wanted for it to go in so bad.
Gobz and his only expression
*IMITATES* :o
It really looks like he's getting back in shape.
Keep it up, we need this hustle for Madrid on Wednesday.
Of course he took time to show off his acrobatic skills
... as well as ballet moves
Oh I think this was when Mirko sent that long ball for him and he couldn't get to it and he had to twist his neck back trying to reach the ball.
Dip that neck back
Right, so as expected, they were harsh on Fra. And with good reason, Er Pupone is back, bitches.
Double-teamed
Controlling the ball with his chest.
So the hobo was given the arduous task of marking Il Capitano.
Look who finally shaved.
Right now? I'm a ball of giggles. Someone's about to get pwned. And it's not Fra.
Booya.
Pwned.
ROMA 1
Left in the dust, Cristi was.
=)
And there's the trademark thumb-sucking celebration.
He couldn't believe it either.
That goal happened so fast, you would've missed it if you blinked! Phew, Checco!
For the away fans
"What, what?"
"Let me hear you scream, Curva Sud."
Of course the entire Meazza was silenced, I'd imagine
JC, what you doin'?
LMFAO this was so cute. Fra scored and Doni was jumping and celebrating alone in his net.
I gloat. Sue me.
I love this photo.
Look away, Cristian.
No, you don't get to join the hugs. You left, remember?
My boys were so focused, they couldn't even celebrate the way they used to; that is, lots of chasing, running, yelling, stripping and ROARING. So they settled for the usual head rubbing and hugging.
So low key, yet lovely, nonetheless.
Francesco ♥
You don't understand, he's the only one you can count on in this team as far as FINISHING goes. The rest are just trying.
♥_♥
It's all good. *pat pat*
Maxwell was an even better defender than Chivu, honestly.
Oh, the pain!
Innocent =)
So Fra was pretty much the orchestrator of every play. And for that, I love him.
Look, he even helped out with defense.
Mirko, was, holy hell, he had four men all on his case at one point and still didn't lose the ball.
LMFAO Mirko and Maicon had a couple run-ins. In the first one, Mirko ended up on the ground somehow, literally bellowing at Cyclone. I heard, I LOL'd.
Luish hustlin' on Mirko
So I guess Spal was saving Manci for Real, and decided to play Mirko on the left again in Amantino's place
Mirko was decisive in the Totti goal. He was holding the ball, drew 2/3 defenders and left Max open, who sent the most accurate of crosses to Fra who just got away from his marker, a certain hobo.
They planned that whole thing all along.
BFFs
♥
Simone took hustle pills and wasn't exactly shit yesterday
Except for that one time Fra set him up and he was all unmarked and he forgot to run and get to the ball. If only he paid attention.
Yeah, Chivu patted Perrotta's head after this. Simone just walked away.
LOLOL Pizarro, apart from losing the ball twice in a row in the opening minutes, wasn't entirely fucked at holding the ball in the mid
Crazy eyes!
And now, let's get to the horror.
Get your filthy moronic paws off my Capitano.
Speaking of moronic.
"WHAT FOUL?!?!?!"
Perrotta's face. Priceless.
83rd minute will be ingrained in my mind forever: Daniele calming Philippe down. Holy hell, was that ironic or what. My OTP is alive and well.
Daniele kept his cool, and was probably the only smiling Romanista, albeit, sarcastically.
*shakes head forevermore*
Philippe said there was no contact and that he even stopped so he doesn't run into Crespo.
[Wait for the pics. Truth prevails.]
Right, so here's the "second bookable offense"
Let's take a look at the photos. Make your own judgments.
Oh, wow, that's really serious. That totally deserved a yellow.
Draw your own conclusions.
Nobody's blaming you, love.
You know what else? He totally debuted a new 'do, too.
Dear Philou, no more haircuts prior to big matches.
You hear that? That's the sound of my heart shattering into five million morsels.
This was Javi, pre-strike
*skips subsequent photos* See Martha's
post for Inter pics.
Right, so Javi equalised 2 minutes before time; meanwhile, the Romanisti all over the globe was doing this
*emo tear*
After the red card and the goal, Marco collided with Javi and landed badly on his shoulder.
He better be the fuck alright. We can't lose another defender!
Prior to the fall
*weeps*
I hope he's just faking and buying time.
"Fair play" my ass.
1-1 in the 88th. And the bad thing is, we weren't shit at defending. It was just one of those... things. *deep sigh*
Danielino, do not cry.
Romanisti, all 4 of you, do not lose hope. We've already played Inter, Juve and Viola, so the worst is behind us, so to speak. Because of Rosetti, shame on him, we will miss Mexes for Milan, but just stay positive. Parma on Sunday at home, and then away to Madrid on Wednesday. Keep the hope afloat.
