VIola: Slain by the Other Zlatan

Feb 13, 2008 10:00

(I didn't write this, but I wish I had.)

The Viola took a point in Bergamo last weekend, but it was excruciatingly close to being three before Zlatan Muslimovic (who scored both the Atalanta goals, damn him) popped up and scored the equalizer in injury time. Siiiiiiigh. [This is where we don't mention the fact that the dropped points mean Milan could be in fourth by the end of the day.]

Atalanta 2 - 2 Fiorentina
Pazzini 29 (F), Muslimovic 30, 91 (A), Semioli 60 (F)

Atalanta: Coppola; Rivalta, Pellegrino, Capelli, Manfredini (Belleri 26); Ferreira Pinto, De Ascentis, Tissone, Langella (S Inzaghi 66); Floccari (Paolucci 76), Muslimovic
Fiorentina: Frey; Ujfalusi, Dainelli, Gamberini, Pasqual; Montolivo, Donadel, Kuzmanovic (Jorgensen 67); Santana, Pazzini (Vieri 73), Semioli

King of the world.

When Cesare gets stroppy, you know things are not good.

Pasqual was adored by the photographers for some reason.

Or maybe it was that he kept getting in the way of their Muslimovic pictures.

Such an eager little beaver! Pity he wasn't very good, at least according to La Gazzetta.

Look, Monty!

He had an assist.

Of course, he also gave the ball away in injury time, leading to Atalanta's second goal.

Oops.

Moving on to the good guy goals.

The Princess won the lead striker starting spot back, and wasn't crap, so he'll probably keep it.

And by not crap, I mean he was jumping a lot.

*sigh* Pity he's still refusing to shave.

His goal was good.

He received it and turned and shot far post, and the keeper was befuddled.

He grew up with Atalanta, so did a nice, mellow celebration instead of that eye-pointing nonsense.

Though, having seen this, I think I might prefer the eye-pointing.

He still got some cuddles, though -- you can't expect EVERYONE to behave when there's a goal.

Look, he and Monty have quit fighting!

This picture scares me alot. What's up with the intense Princess-Pubes eye contact?

(Kuzi got his own cuddle. Serbs.)

Speaking of Kuzi.

&hearts That is all.

The other goal, believe it or not, was from Pubes.

Who, you may recall, is in the Azzurri now.

Deal with it people, he's a pimp.

(Despite the Facial Hair of Shame.)

Doing the Mutu (albeit with Santana in place of Osvaldo).

On the topic of Santana, the pictures make him look like a busy, busy boy.

La Gazzetta were unimpressed, but come on, he's trying to be Mutu! That's a tall order.

Hello, Ujfi.

Pwning that pesky Muslimovic character.

Bobo! (He hardly played and, as Neko said in her text updates to me, was offside a lot.)

*sigh*

It really didn't end well.

Group emo.

*pets poor Seb and his newly cabbage hair*

Also, check out Balzaretti: He's practically turned into David Bowie now that he's gone. Odd.

The team travel to Norway after training today for tomorrow's UEFA Cup match against Rosenborg. Mutu is expected to be back, but Liverani is still out, and Bobo is missing the trip due to an Achilles problem. (Whe the hell did that happen?!) If anyone besides me has the seriea.tv season package, they're showing the match basically for free to us. Woo hoo, no dealing with shitty streams!

Then, this weekend, it's Catania at home.

team: fiorentina, 'santana', 'ujfalusi', 'frey', serie a, team: atalanta, 'balzaretti', 'vieri', match photos, 'pasqual', picspam, 'semioli', 'pazzini', 'montolivo', 'kuzmanovic'
