OP has no idea what Jackson is doing over in China other than overworking himself so when I happened to catch this video I thought it'd be fun to post it here since it got rapper-, singer- and actor!Jackson all in one (not really sure about Jackson's character but I'll refrain from commenting lol), ( Read more... )

I'll be honest and say that Jackson's bad at the scenes which required tense emotions. but he's still not too bad in the light-hearted ones! I hope Jackson isn't the one writing his raps because they're terrible, and the words used are such basic words (like in the basest form), especially when compared to the song lyrics.

the Idol Producer video was quite cute seeing the interactions between the judges, and to see them speaking their natural language makes it less stiff! also ☺️ at Jackson's Hong Kong accented Mandarin slipping

I didn’t really understand his character overall (am I the only one who thought the son was being kind of a jerk in the beginning??), but his puppy dog eyes were in full force here and he looked great. But yeah he did "better" in the light-hearted scenes than the intense ones. The sudden song/rap parts were pretty cringe and didn’t fit in at all imo lmao.

I still don't really understand his popularity as a rapper seeing what he's given us so far like... but I guess good for him, at least he works hard :P

I didn't like his character too, but I guess it's for the typical redemption character trope to elicit emotions? especially for a lunar new year, which is all about family reunions.

I guess his popularity stems mainly from his work as a comedian/entertainer, and rapping is just something that's trendy in China, in which he's using it for his music to be current? I just wish he would improve his lyrics writing, as well as his Mandarin (which I feel is kind of weak especially with his writing?). But I'm definitely glad that his hardwork is at least paying off!
