Last weekend, I competed with the adult four-hand ceili team from Niamh's school in the Eastern Canadian Oireachtas (Irish dance championships) in Niagara Falls. We came third, and I found out tonight that that means we qualified for the Nationals and the Worlds! We're world-qualifiers in Irish Dance! I'm a world-qualifier Irish dancer! I plan to brag about this to my grandchildren in forty years or so.

This is like some crazy dancing dream come true. If only we could actually go. They're in Philadelphia next April, but two of the girls aren't able to take time off work that month. We might do the Nationals in July though.

Anyway, I am giddy!

Also, the over-15 ceili team from our school came 13th, which is *awesome*, as it's only one spot off of placing. This is actually much more impressive than my team's finish, despite the qualifying, because they were up against a whole lot more people, who were all better dancers than my team. (The benefits of competitive dancing as an adult are many...)
