I have not updated in SO LONG.

I'm very grateful to say that I've partially been screaming busy writing on all the cartoon work that's come in (zero temp work, yay!) -- and partially just been fretting about my own productivity level to the point that I just shut down and stare at the walls and drool. (Lack of mental health, boo. So attractive, isn't it?)

I do have several Buffy celebrity sightings to report, in the space of just a few days:
  • Charisma Carpenter, seen at Old Navy. She held her little boy, who was cranky. I'm embarrassed to say I had the automatic staring, have-to-figure-out-if-it's-really-her reaction for the first few seconds, while she looked away from me and my popping eyeballs like a pro.
  • Danny Strong, seen at the Insomnia Cafe, more often than not. He's such a sweetie that he's even begun saying hello to me, since I've said hi to him a couple of times.
  • And not an hour ago, Nick Brendan (!! - are you listening funkparadise? I wanted to be able to beam what I was seeing straight into your brain somehow...), with (I believe) his wife, here in the Starbucks I'm currently occupying. He was wearing a kick-ass black suit and a snazzy short haircut. He appeared to me to be about 5'10" or so, so not super-tall but not short (I'm so obsessed with men's height these days, jeez. Mental health concerns, part II.) He was not talk-to-able, in any sort of socially acceptable way, so I just watched him as unobtrusively as I could, for as long as I could (::cranes head as he walks down street::)
In non-Buffy-related sightings, at the same time Nick was here, so was Anthony Heald (I remember him best as the creepy Dr. Chilton from "Silence of the Lambs", but he's also been on "Boston Public"), sitting right in front of me. I tapped him and told him I thought he was a very good actor (Dr. Chilton was the slimeball of the century.) He smiled very nicely. I mentioned that I really liked him in "Silence". His smile dimmed down to "polite" and he thanked me and turned around again. Dude, what'd I say? What should I have said? "Sorry I think "Boston Public" is a steaming pile of trying-too-hard-to-be-controversial dreck, but it's not your fault?" I'm not going to mention what I'm not a fan of. What-ev.

Speaking of acting, I recently showed up to be an extra in a friend-of-a-friend's short film, and was given lines and a close-up and such. I had to be one of several rampantly judgmental Christians ousting a friend from the ranks of their church, because she's recently had her sexual shame removed, and she's now doing things like innocently getting the paper in the nude. It was a lot of fun, a bit of work, and cool to get raving feedback from the director. :) But spending time in that energy was a little oogy -- good thing this other woman, Jennica, whom I used to know from stand-up, was so fucking funny doing her close-up moment (ecstatically crunching ice, long story) we could barely get through the take without busting.

Gawd, I'm so El Lay in this post. I promise, I haven't forgotten the Little People. :P (Because that would mean forgetting myself. One mental health point to me, finally.)
