Dance, writer, dance!

Today I finally got notes back on my script and hence, subsequently, something to do at the office. So I headed back to the new office and BOY did I there do the dance of the uptight writer. Since I've never had the circumstance of coming into an office to write only animation, I have to work out my process here: what I need, how I like things, what my limits are, how to get and stay focused. Turns out I like having my door closed -- that helped a lot, though I might open it as the day goes on and changes. But before I tried that it was adjust the chair, my hands need lotion, oops I also need Chapstick so get out the purse use it then put it back, try to hook up the iPod, no juice for the iPod, try internet radio, these headphones suck I need new ones, shop for headphones on apple.com, decide I'll go by Radio Shack in the mall, wait am I hungry I could be hungry do I have change for the vending machine yadda yadda yadda. If you think it's exhausting to read, try having it in your head. But also kind of cute, and endearing, cuz I can see the overview. Writer's nervous in her new office. Doesn't have/know all her woobies yet.

So for now, it's just: be patient. Break it down into doable chunks. Yeah, go ahead and take breaks, say, to blog. ;) Then go back to it. You'll figure it out.

You (and your Powers That Be) always do. :)

PS: my opening villain gag for this script was deemed "just awesome" by my peers/bosses, as was another very in-character adjustment I suggested later in the draft. I need to start getting into these scripts and the show's world like I do a fandom show, looking at all the connections and the interactions and how to get the best juice from them. I guess when it's on a schedule, though, you don't have the same kinda time to let it all marinate. But I think I'll do eons better the more I manage to do that.

PPS: Cobbvard was awesome last night, guys -- thanks so much!
