That's Life

I added a bunch of new friends and then promptly quit posting. Sorry about that! I have an intro post pinned here, but I notice it is already out of date and in need of updating. Feel free to read it if you like, but I'll need to unpin and redo it one day soon.

I've been pretty busy lately. I'm trying to get my garden planted, and I'm already doing better than last year. I just hope all the stuff grows. I've had bad luck with my gardening lately, and it's starting to get to me. I set all of my flats outside to harden off and the wind blew them apart and lost my seedlings. Another big flat didn't sprout at all, and I don't know why. I have to start over with my seeds, and some of them need to be done straight out in the garden, but my tiller is busted until Josh can get around to fixing it.

I've been trying to mow our massive lawn as well. We had a lot of rain recently, and it's like a 4-5 acre jungle. I got about half of it done yesterday before I broke the mower. And the belt is super-duper-loose, so it keeps falling off so easily. I hope to go get a new one very soon. Unfortunately, it looks like all our paperwork for the mower was in the building that caught fire last year, because we need some other parts too and Josh can't find the information.

I recently mentioned my new financial commitment and how I was working hard to learn and get on top of that. One of my wonderful friends surprised me with three Dave Ramsey books! The Total Money Makeover, The Total Money Makeover Workbook, and the Financial Peace Planner. I was so surprised and honored. So I'm doubly excited about my financial journey lately. I also splurged and bought myself a year's subscription to The Finance Bar's Membership Club, which focuses on teaching women how to take control of their finances. There's still a sale going for $10/mo membership if you are interested. I don't have paypal and couldn't sign up, but the owner, Marsha, found a way to work around that if I was willing to pay the whole year up front. I already found the free mini-program she offered to be very helpful, and the Members' Club is looking like it's going to be fantastic as well. I've got workbooks that I'm working my way through and there is a great private facebook group where the ladies are all very cool and encouaraging.

I'm still mini-read-a-thoning as I gea up for Dewey's 24-Hr. Read-a-Thon on April 29. This week we're supposed to try reading for 24 hrs out of the course of the whole week. I've been reading a lot more than usual, though I don't know if I'll hit 24. I'm glad to be focusing on all these books I have, and I'm still trying to finish some transgender books I took out from the Family Resource Center in St. Louis so I can finally take those back.

If I do disappear again, it's because my laptop cord broke. It's been pulled apart in one spot and is making me plenty nervous. I ordered another one on my kindle, thinking it would be 2 days because I have prime, but I didn't notice that this was NOT prime so it's going to take about a week to get here. I'll stick around as long as I can, but it's not looking that good right now.

I hope you have a Happy Easter!
