Now that you live near St. Louis, make sure to catch a Cards game and a show at the Muny (in the summer, they have free seats in the back (but the not-free seats aren't too expensive considering it's professional theater) and it's musicals). There's also the City Museum (avant garde all ages playground with history of the city) and the Arch of course. Good weekend get away stuff - there's also the Lake of the Ozarks with fun stuff and Branson which is kitschy and awesome.
That's neighbor enough for me! I think St. Louis is the nearest Starbucks, so I'll be there every now and then. LOL
Sounds like a lot of fun in the area! We're definitely wanting to explore all of our museum, zoo, & national forest options. We'll have to get together and do something fun! We don't get possession for 30 days though, but then we should be moved in.
The Zoo is awesome and free! I think, if you guys are still around tomorrow, that they are having Boo in the Zoo with special children's activities and stuff. Just about all of the museums in Forest Park are free too (the Zoo, the Science Center, the Art Museum and the History Museum) which would all make great homeschool field trips (although, depending on how your girls do in the car they might need to be overnights). And the Mark Twain forest is so awesome as is Johnston's Shut Ins which are both super near Centerville.
Best wishes with the move! Let me know when you're settled in. :)
Free zoos are awesome! We'll definitely do that then. There's a tiger sanctuary in St. Gen that we want to check out asap too. I think Eden would really love that.
Luckily, after like the last 4 out of 5 weeks being spent in a car, my kids do really well with car rides. :D I haven't heard of Johnston's Shut Ins, but a lot of the places we looked at were near Mark Twain, so we're eager to check out local hiking too. We will miss our beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
